The program has always been special to the Memphis fans, and that electricity is why we can do something special at this University. My relationship with Coach Smith, and knowing the type of coach and person that he is, is what drew me to the school."

no...but he can have contact with HS and AAU coaches and run on-campus visits along with coach Smith.

Why hire a recruiter and put him in a position where he is not allowed to recruit?

Thanks. I've been watching basketball for several years but with this post of yours I think, finally, now I see the big picture.

Welcome, Butch!

According to Mark G's tweets, he can:

1. Advise the staff,
2. See recruits on campus,
3. Phone (and I guess text, tweet, etc) high school and AAU coaches.

The hire is a positive for sure, but it only becomes truly meaningful if he stays and if he isn't nailed to the campus starting at the end of his NC State contract.
