they're all better than Hartford...

Sure bud.

let me add that I don't mean that from a 'ur city sux, lol' mentality...

Hartford is not convenient to ANYONE not named UConn. Tulsa is easily accessible to 4 strong hoops fan bases and you could put the women's tournament at their right sized on-campus arena.

Hartford has had 2 AAC tourneys and that Conn casino has hosted several straight women's tourneys...gotta learn to share UConn fans.

I don't think Hartford should host again. I didn't think they should have hosted after the first time. Once was enough. I'd feel the same way about Tulsa. The only reason we hosted the second time was because none of the other schools in this conference stepped up when Orlando had a scheduling conflict.

The Women's game is a completely different animal. The conference is 3 teams deep in both performance and fan-base (UCONN, USF, Temple). That tournament should ONLY be in the Northeast or Florida until other members gain a pulse.

You need to get out of your MVC mindset with this neutral site business. Nothing prevents you from going to neutral site St. Louis to attend their tourney for old times sake. The AAC isn't going to hold its tourney outside of its member cities anytime soon. No one in OKC would care about it and Fayetteville or Little Rock would make the AAC a laughingstock.

If you want it in Wichita, bid on it. That's the way it's done.

Yeah, I really see no reason to put the AAC tournament in a neutral city. We have plenty of great cities with NBA-quality arenas. As of right now, I lean more towards cities who already have teams with strong fan bases like Memphis, Wichita, and Dallas, but hopefully we get to a point where a tournament in Orlando or New Orleans can be well attended too.

How about we put it in Hartford?

How about you get behind my genius idea and quit being intentionally obtuse.

It's an MVC mindset but all the P5 conferences do it. Ok bud.

Well, I know that we would have plenty of corporate support, sponsorships, and community excitement to make it a success. I'm sure that they are already aware. It's better if opponents travel. We've always traveled so we are used to it, but it would be fun to go to the arena to watch good basketball and sleep in my own bed, and get a little home cooking from the black shirts.

Tell me again which Big 12 team is located in Kansas City?
Which ACC team is in NYC?
Which Pac12 team is in Vegas?

Those darn mid-majors.

Also, pretty sure Wichita did bid on it .. same way they bid and got the NCAA tournament first 2 rounds ...

You have been in a conference--the MVC-- for 70 yrs that has its tourney in a neutral site. I don't care what conference Wichita came from, it appears that's what WSU fans expect and are accustomed to, hence the "mindset".

I doubt seriously if Wichita bid on the 2019 tourney since those are usually taken several years in advance.

You can try to play big-time/small-time all you want. The generally accepted national narrative is that small-time conferences play in the arenas of their members, and big-time conferences play in 'neutral' arenas. It's not like WSU fans didn't realize there was basketball being played outside of the MVC the last 70 years...

Wichita could host the AAC tourney at Intrust Bank Arena...but you have earn it with a good bid...Tulsa has hosted the CUSA basketball tourney so they have experience with that type of bidding process.

Wichita bid on the AAC tournament for years 2020-2022. Those site(s) will be announced soon.

Get your civic minded corporate army behind it. For a weekend, your city is on display and the American Conference is depending on you. Take your responsibility seriously damn it.

Everyone quoting a BS post. Comparatively, Memphis has supported conference tournaments well.

Went to Memphis many times for conference tourneys back in CUSA days. Never had a problem whether we stayed downtown or in Tunica. Always had good crowds and the city did it right.

Except UNLV has a good basketball program and a large fanbase.

No major conference plays their tournament on a school's home court (Don't call MSG St. John's home court because it isn't) Hell, most mid-major conferences play theirs on neutral courts.

Do AAC schools struggle that badly bringing in fans for the conference tournament? I mean, anybody can fill their arena at home when they pull a decent team, I would think (well, maybe not UConn). Hell, the crappy Valley tournament had 10,000 fans a game at its neutral site in its neutral city.

I'm not sure where you place it, but I think the tournament should be played on a neutral floor if it all possible.

Yes we struggle to bring fans to tournaments. Have looked at a map of this league? On top of the geography issues several schools have "commuter" backgrounds or their fans just dgaf about basketball. The only schools with great basketball AND fanbases are spread across the entire map of the league. WSU, Memphis, Cincy and UConn. Very few from other schools will show up.

Those conferences have many large fanbases and make a lot more sense geographically than this one. Apples and oranges.

Huh? Have you looked at maps of other leagues? Most conferences are spread out.

The AAC has more traditional basketball schools than the Pac 12.
The conference is just at the disadvantage of not being together near as long. We haven't had the chance to develop yearly routines as fans.
