He was the highest paid player in NBA history last season, he is the 2nd highest paid player in the NBA this upcoming season. Each season that salary goes up peaking at 34 million a season. That is why I say he isn't as good as his contract. He makes more money than Kevin Durant.

He hit the jackpot at the right time.

He's at #4 currently and his ranking will keep going down as more and more players hit FA

KD signed for one year at $26.5, which was cool. But he'll probably get the 5 year max deal next year. And KD has a $300M, 10 year shoe contract with Nike. And that is his 2nd Nike contract.

When players make more outside the league than their NBA contracts, they can afford to take less. Unfortunately this makes the Dubs stronger next year, they were able to retain Iggy and Zaza and Livingston and sign Casspi and Swaggy P. Warriors could easily win 70 games next season.

Wow.

Just looked it up.

Mike and Russell Westbrook will pull in the same money next year(Russell was the MVP).

They are the 6th highest players in the NBA next season.

Pending any contracts that may happen tomorrow.

And there are 12 players that will make more than Kevin Durant next season.

Al Horford is one of them.

So is Blake Griffin, Damien Lillard, Harden, DeRozan, Paul Millsap, former Grizzly Kyle Lowry, Lebron and Steph.

And don't forget Melo.

NBA is a crazy market place.

The salaries are gonna be crazy insane by next season. It started last season with Mike and it's gonna be out of control moving forward.

I can't imagine what's Westbrook's next contract will look like?

Curry just signed a 5 year 201M contract. And he may not be the highest paid in a couple of years when other big names hit the FA market.

No, I see the money they are getting and know that it will increase.

Just stating the obvious.

That's crazy that our society values these players more than those who keep them alive and well.

That point aside.

The top 13 list is baffling in a sense.

Durant is obviously a top 5 player who makes the 13th highest salary.

Horford, Millsap, Conley, DeRozan, and Griffin are top 10.

Checks and balances are amiss.

Durant on purpose took a pay cut so the Warriors can keep the roster together. He re-ups again in 2 years and will probably make upwards of $45M+ by then.

As far as successful athletes making a ton of money...that's a diff discussion.

Doctors and nurses don't bring in billions of dollar of revenue. Athletes are underpaid if anything. Lebron should be making at least 100 million per year

Harden just signed 4 yr 228M. Conley's contract will dip into the teens ranking wise by next season.

That is insane...

Not sure the owners will allow this to continu unless revenues are increasing at the same rate

Player contracts are locked at 51% of revenue. Up to the Rockets to decide how they want to spend their money.

It'll continue until 2020

That's why fans freaking out about Conley's contract were freaking out prematurely

Bingo

Should?

That's the f-ed up part.

This shouldn't be a possibility.

It speaks to the mentality of our society.

Meanwhile, the average Joe gets dumber and fatter.

And pays a stipend for every extra X in the size of their game jersey.

Mike just hit free agency when the big TV bump raised the salary cap. In another year, he will have around the 12th biggest total contract, lots of guys getting renewed next year. And probably the 20th biggest contract on an annualized basis.

Lowry and Millsap both got $30M per year this summer. Players have to get to their 3rd contract to get to the $30M+ range.

Not sure why this was moved ? I posted it in the Dockery-Finch Board because the news that former Tiger player Tyreke Evans is now a Grizzly is for sure Tiger related.

You modsneed to reconsider this decision.

Bingo

For those whose blood pressure rises when they see what pro athletes make, I used to feel the same way. IMO, the key to enjoying pro sports is to look at them as entertainers, not guys lucky to be playing a sport that we played for free as kids and teens.

We don't hear complaints when Brad Pitt gets $20M per movie, or Beyonce makes $100 per year. Steve Harvey made $40M last year, hosting a game show, J.K. Rowling, the lady who wrote the Harry Potter books, made $100M. The list goes on and on.

Marc and Mike and ZBo provided me a lot more entertainment hours than any of these people. Fans voluntarily pay for tickets, viewers voluntarily choose to watch on TV where ads are sold, or even pay $200 per year for League Pass, like I do.
