CA (Tom Schad) Position Breakdowns
The CA/Tom Schad is going through the position breakdowns again for the upcoming football season. Good stuff here - for around $8/month, the Tiger coverage is the only reason I keep my subscription and it's well worth it.

Today's breakdown was on the OL. With this past years recruiting pickups, I feel like we've got some of the best depth at OL than we've had in quite some time. Our size is getting better, but we're still relatively light up front; however, our height/length can help overcome some of that. Recruiting that kind of length means you have guys with the frames to add weight. I think there's potential that, come next year (2018), we're talking in the preseason about the OL being the (or at least a) strength of the offense - still a long ways to go to get there, but it looks like we've got the tools in place for that kind of potential.

Hope it all comes together this season. This is the key piece in maximizing our skill set players' performance.

Everybody gets excited about the "skill" positions, but the team that owns the line of scrimmage wins most games.

Eh...That is true they do still win MOST games.

But many games are won at the skill positions especially on offense...

You no longer need a dominant offensive line to be succssful in college anymore...But if you have have a NFL line in college (Alabama) it makes it much easier to call plays...(Dive right/Dive Left)

This is the primary difference between P5 and bib P5 schools. The size and depth on the lines.

Many non P5 have really good skill people. But it is the quality Hosses which is the key.

That's true. Western Kentucky last two years had an excellent OL. And it was reflected in their records and their last two bowl games, as the Tigers well know.

I have not read the article.
I was not impressed with our OL from last year.
But, if OL improves, we could have one helluva an offense in 2017.

Improvements needed in the OL definitely. We struggled against teams that had good D-Line and we often struggled to run the ball in short yardage situations.
