University of Cincinnati football player Alex Thomas will appear in court Thursday after being arrested and accused of aggravated robbery, reports say.

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- A player with the University of Cincinnati football team was in jail Wednesday night after being arrested on a charge of aggravated robbery, reports say.

WLWT Channel 5 reports Alex Thomas, 20, of Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., a junior cornerback with the Bearcats, will appear in court Thursday morning.

No details have been reported about why Thomas has been charged.

Thomas has been suspended indefinitely from the Cincinnati football team, WXIX Channel 19 reports.

According to WLWT, as a freshman Thomas was arrested on a charge of obstruction after trying to run from police who had responded to a party.

Thomas started 10 games last season for the Bearcats, WXIX reports.

Aggravated robbery is serious business. It doesn't matter how good Thomas is or how valuable a team member. If he's found guilty, kick him off the team and send him packing. Everyone deserves a second chance, you say? Let him look for it someplace else.
