Next match vs. ex-UT Linebacker, Kevin Simon, steel cage.

07-coffee3 Disappointed, I don't know what I actually expected for D to do after football but it sure was not to be involved in FAKE RASSLIN.
I guess the pay must be pretty good but I also can't imagine he needs the money that bad. I'm still a fan but I won't be wasting my time watching any of that stuff.

Pro wrestling is obviously choreographed, but the injuries are real.

You are right about that. My son-in-law was BOBBY DUNCUM, JR. who played football for THE TEXAS LONGHORNS and afterwards, entered professional wrestling like his father. He started wresting in Japan and eventually came back to the US with the WCW. The deal is, you have a contract to wrestle and if you don't....you don't get paid. So what happens is that you wrestle when you are hurt and start becoming dependent on pain pills to enable you to perform. So, each time you visit a different city....you see a different doctor and get pills.....pretty soon you become addicted. Bobby died in his early 30's and it was due to wrestling and pain pills. I hope DeAngelo doesn't get into this rat race. Here is a video of Bobby wrestling.

Major promotions have guaranteed contracts now. And judging by the time of the video you posted Bobby had to have had some type of guarantee also.

RE: Deangelo earns high praise for his wrestling match
Bobby's tag team partner just before he died was Curt Henning....Mr. Perfect. Unfortunately, Curt died at 44 in Tampa of Acute Drug Intoxication. Basically, he took too many pain pills. Then there was another one of Bobby's tag team partners....Kerry Von Erich who committed suicide at 33. I tell you....it's a tough business. With all the money D'Angelo has made....not sure he needs to be wrestling other than to just say he did it and maybe just wrestle when he feels like it and not because he needs to do it to make a living. Maybe he can be the next ROCK and use it as a stepping stone to Hollywood and the Movies.

Yet there are wrestlers you've never heard of that go through the business without dying.

Shrug.

I'm sure he'll be fine. He's a grown-ass man.

The punches and slaps may be staged but when they do a flip off a 10ft. ladder something bad is gonna happen.

How is it different?

In your big organizations which D would work I don't see him kicking it around on the indies the pay is better now guaranteed down side contracts. Wellness policy's against street drugs steroids and non prescribed pharmaceuticals.WWE will pay for any drug rehab program for if you need it even if after your contract is up. Curtis death you could tie back to wrestling injuries but Von Erich killed himself because he was about to go to federal prison on drug charges his injury occurred because of a dirt bike accident.
