Memphis finished t5th and was 119 in the RPI.

The AAC was weaker than usual last year and we added Wichita St. so it is feasible - I suppose - to merit a top 100 RPI by finishing 6th. It is a sign of our decline that our optimism yields such a meager result.

Georgia Tech may have the worst power-five roster I've ever seen. Yellow Jackets won't win a game in ACC play this season. Book it.

Both Parrish and Matt Norlander independently picked Memphis 8th about 1 to 1.5 months ago as Parrish was researching for a radio segment. Only difference from Rothstein is he placed Tulsa above Memphis.

So much UNKNOWN with this roster.

Interesting bit of Trivia....the two Coaches of the Year in the ACC for basketball and football were both former Memphis Coaches. Fuente and Pastner. Let's hope that the AAC Coaches of the year for 2017 will be Smith and Norvell. It COULD happen.

We will not know till this team takes the floor this season. These are Tubby's guys and the distractions are gone. So we will see. The man can coach players up. We will see if he got something up his sleeve with this bunch

Mark Giannotto predicted a 16-15 overall record and a 7-11 conference finish. I am unsure where his prediction places us in the ranking.

Hate to say it, but it isn't "unknown." We pretty much know (or anyone who chooses to understand cbb) that the JUCO will produce in a certain fashion and the frosh can only provide so much. Those are actual knowns.

And unknown would be if someone came on the team with no historical comparison--like a Martin Nglaro. We have comps for JUCO's and frosh rated 130-250.

Just like there are comps for guys drafted in the lottery vs. guys drafted 40-60.

so you really think we're supposed to be good each and every season? that's simply unrealistic....sometimes UCLA goes 15-17 and sometimes UK loses to Robert Morris in the NIT.

I think the prediction is pretty much what most of us expect. It's going to be a tough year, no doubt about it. When you lose your roster in April, only Cal could possibly recover. I'm still looking forward to the season. I'm hoping a few of the new guys turn into good players. Add a strong 2018 and we're back on the upswing.

that happens during coaching changes...see 1998-99 and 1999-2000.

moreover, you now have over 350 division 1 hoops teams. 15 years ago 16-17 win teams regularly made the NIT.
