Our library is certainly big but it is a mission of the University to have one large, centrally located library. Some other schools in Texas go the opposite route. Baylor, for instance, has one decently-sized (but certainly not big) library near the quad, and then 4-5 smaller libraries spread throughout campus - fine arts library, law library, political science library, Texas collection library, etc.

By enrollment, we're the 4th largest public university in Texas . . .

I guess after UTA which was over 41,000 at last census.

Not sure what you're looking at, latest data on undergrads has y'all listed 6th.

Looks like a pretty campus. Smallish buildings. But, a nice, human scale.

well I'm just going by the numbers the university has posted on their website..there was quite the banner headline this spring semester about the 41,000+ enrolled..maybe there's an * I didnt see...I imagine their total includes the grad schools too...the school shows 39,714 for 2016 so 41,000+ this spring semester would seem likely to me.

For real. I've never thought of our campus as beautiful. Most of the buildings are 1960s architecture with blonde brick.07-coffee3

Outside of ABI and new Liberal Arts building nothing to see here. I'm actually quite embrassed of our campus and lack of just decent landscaping.
Can't believe I almost forgot about the Art Deco buildings. I think they are beautiful. But that style is pretty polarizing.

Some of the A State pics that have subsequently been posted look pretty nice. Also, I like Art Deco.

Using THECB numbers, which is apples-to-apples, we are currently larger than Texas State. Of course, relative size positions have and probably will flip more than once in the future. We are also the largest university in North Texas, much to the chagrin of some in Denton. They have been forced to remove that brag from their puff pieces.

Latest stats I could find was 2015. TXST was #52 in the US but many Universities above them are on the decline while TXST is still on the upswing. Easily in the top 50 by now.

That list includes all the joke for profit schools and community colleges and schools that have a high online enrollment, you are much higher than that when it comes to real universities, especially ones with a traditional campus(es).

GS is 218 on that list, with the consolidation with Armstrong, Georgia Southern will jump up 100+/- spots in the rankings. When ever the south campus expansion happens we will likely be top 50.

http://www.stateuniversity.com/rank/tot_enroll_rank/6

UCF is currently the new king of enrollment.

Here is for undergrad ranking for real public traditional universities.

http://blog.prepscholar.com/the-biggest-...ted-states

I’ve included two lists of the biggest public colleges and the biggest private colleges. The public colleges I included have over 25,000 undergraduates, and the private colleges have over 15,000 undergraduates. I did not include colleges where a large portion of the student body is comprised of online students because this doesn’t create the same environment as a school that has a huge on-campus population.
Looks like we are not showing up on these lists yet. We should be 4th in the United States

Yes but it is still not the same as TXST that has a traditional campus and not a ton of commuter students or satellite locations. I think perimeter had five locations none of which even inside the perimeter and I doubt the majority were traditional students.

I talked with a professor at Perimeter and he was asserting even though they are apart of GaSt they were still considered separate and even had to labeled GaSt but with a perimeter qualifier instead of just GaSt. Are all students admitted equally now regardless of location?

Very few of these lists are apples to apples. As you have schools that are just huge with one main campus UCF, online (Liberty), heavy commuter population (city schools), numerous satellite campuses like GaSt now etc. Total enrollment does not tell the whole story. I dont think the students at the Newton campus for you guys are going to make many sporting events or even care outside of it just the closest school same with most other locations. Same way likely for our Sav. students. Transportation will be provided for football but I doubt the Sav students make any other sporting events or will have the same sense of belonging and pride.

I know GS puts out a fact book every fall I believe that breaks down in detail the student population. Your schools likely do the same.

That is great but not the point..at all. I am just telling you that he was forced by GSU to put the qualifier of Perimeter on everything official. That may have changed as this was last year.

Our Sav. students will say the same as it is just true but it is not the same as being at the main campus....which is the point I was making in comparison to you and TXST. I think the Newton County students and most of the satellite campus students will have very different opinions, perspective and feelings about GSU than kids at the main campus in ATL. I also doubt they make many main campus activities unless you provide adequate transportation like we will for football games. Did not really pan out for attendance last year maybe the new digs will inspire the satellite campus kids this year....and hopefully the alums and main campus students as well.

I was just on Coastal's campus. Lots of similarities as far the campus goes. Their campus reminds of GS's campus circa 2010 when population and academics boom was just starting. I can't wait for our schools to get better acquainted because I feel like we have more in common with them than any other school in the Sun Belt besides maybe Troy.

The academic and pop boom started well before 2010...Late 90's was the start with academics with Pres Grube the pop started climbing steadily a few years later.

You're right but I feel like 2010 is when we really started coming into our own thanks in part to Coach Monken and athletics.

Plus 2010 is around the time we completed a few major campus upgrades that gave GS a new feel

I'm guarantee you that professors students now say they attend GSU.

The sign out front says GSU...sooo

Dude you are thick headed sometimes.....Not once did I say it was not GSU just saying what an actual professor at Perimeter told me..Have you spoken with perimeter campus professors and or students? I didnt think so. You really think they are going to be the same as on "campus" GSU students? I see you are not disputing any of the actual point of the posts....

Again the point is you can claim 53K+/- just like we will claim 27K+/- but we both know it is not the same as TXST or UCF. At least our addition was not a community college where you needed a pulse to get in and scattered all over the area Newton is not even considered in the metro area.

This will be a national game changer for GS when it gets built, over 200 acre expansion. Rumor is this expansion could add up to 10K students to the MAIN campus. A new basketball arena I believe will make us a much more consistent basketball program as well.

That's because we're not taking pics of the inside of the buildings...

There are a few new buildings, but I saw a pic of Wilson Hall in our last set, and that thing is nearly 100 years old...and it looks it on the inside.
