TV Options for Memphis Sports - Cutting Cable?
So I am evaluating cutting cable - my only hangup is that I want to be able to watch all Memphis Football and Basketball games legally (and in HD if available).

Can it be done? I know that the AAC has agreements with ESPN and CBS Sports? What would be the best option? Sling, Hulu, etc?

I went with PS Vue. With that I have access to Watch ESPN & FOX Sports GO.

Hulu TV is literally your only option until YouTube TV makes it to Memphis. But at $39/month for every Tiger game, it isn't too bad.

Sling TV offers both ESPN and Fox broadcasts if you go with the Blue and Orange options. Still cheaper than cable. You also get the watch ESPN which comes across well on ROKU. ESPN3 comes through the watch ESPN if you have ESPN on Sling TV.

You have to have some TV provider, be it traditional services like Comcast, DishTV, DirecTV, etc. or with the new wave of streaming services like Sling TV, PS Vue, DirecTV NOW, Hulu, etc.

The streaming services are quite a bit cheaper than the traditional cable/satellite services.

My subscription to PS Vue gives me access to the ESPN and FOX sports apps.

CBS Sports doesn't play well with certain providers. CBS has been taking a stand-off approach. They think they can be their own streaming service and people will pay a premium for it. We'll see how that plays out.

I'm not sure, but I thought at one point ESPN offered a stand-alone service as well where you could pay them a monthly subscription fee.

DirectTV has the best channel packages. Unfortunately, their streaming infrastructure sucks and no dvr.
On the other hand the other streaming services have better infrastructure but each are missing channel packages.

Playstation Vue is, IMO, the overall best. The big drawback with Vue is they don't offer History Channel and A&E.

Like most things. You can have cheap or you can have effective. Hard to have both. No matter what you decide on, there is always gonna be that channel you want and can't get. My Directv bill keeps inching up and then I call and complain until they do some price breaks. It seems high until I think about the enjoyment I get from it for about $3.50 a day.

Thanks for the comments. In the end, I am going to ditch Comcast and try out the Hulu Subscription.

Are you Bluto? Seems he's been considering the same after an unpleasant customer service experience.

PlayStation Vue, Sling, Hulu Plus and Netflix will give you almost complete coverage.

If you are in the market for a streaming device, I would recommend Apple TV over the Chromecast for Hulu TV. I tried both and Chromecast was sub-par to say the least.

Can't use Roku with Hulu TV yet.

As a quick follow-up, I found out that Sling and Playstation Vue do not have a deal with CBS Sports Network. Hulu is the only option that gives you all of the ESPNs plus CBS Sports Network.

If you are a Tiger fan looking to ditch cable, Hulu looks to be your best option for now.

Except you can buy a subscription to CBS All Access.

$5.99 / mth w/ commercials
$9.99 / mth if you prefer no commercials

I still wonder how that works. You're watching a live show and it goes to a commercial break. If you pay $5.99/mth you watch the commercial but if you pay $9.99/mth you watch a blank screen?
