Hey Coastal Fans
My engineering firm won a bid for a contract with Coastal. I'll be headed up to Conway tomorrow with a crew to do a land survey of parts of campus. Any suggestions for what to do while I'm there to get the typical Beach Chicken experience? I want to go ahead and get the lay of the land (no pun intended) before football season.

There is a Coastal themed sports bar in downtown Conway called The Crafty Rooster that a couple alumni opened. Check that out for a couple brews and some good pub grub.

Spend some time checking out our baseball stadium. It's a work of art.

What specifically are you looking for? Restaurants? Nightlife? Touristy stuff? Campus specific sites?

To get the true Horry County experience, I'm thinking pancake breakfast, round of golf, shopping for cheap towels and sunglasses at Wings or Eagles, dinner at an overpriced fried seafood buffet, and finished off with a strip club.

Just typical Coastal fare. Local bars/restaurants, cool spots on campus, where students go for fun, etc.

If I happen to run into a cheerleader, how much should I tip her?

Crafty Rooster - Downtown Conway - bar with decent food and a handful of craft beer on tap

Rivertown Bistro - Downtown Conway - more upscale but good for lunch. I haven't had it in a while but their shrimp and grits (jalapeño grit cakes) is really good.

Tongy's across Hwy 501 from Coastal. bar with good food - they have great burgers
Grumpy Monk on 501 near the Tanger Outlets. Food is really good and they have a large selection of beer.

Definitely go to Crafty Rooster or Coastal Ale House. Those are the local watering holes.

If you want to act like a college kid go to Tongy's anytime the sun goes down.

Jade Hibachi is a good cheap place to eat.

Jade Hibachi is pretty much how I survived college. I literally ate there at least 4 or 5 times a week.

Get the chicken rice bowl with extra sauce. Mmmmmmmmm.

Went to the Crafty rooster and liked it a lot. Saw a few points on campus and the baseball stadium and checked out the football construction. Spent some time at Tanger too, looked almost identical to ours. Overall I was very impressed and can't wait to be back in the fall!

Go to Tabor City and eat at the Todd House. The beach is chain food haven, not much local action left down there. Catch a Pelicans game, go to Calabash for seafood (better yet is Stevens' at Stevens Crossroads next to NMB High school- locals for locals). Plenty of golf courses there if you can afford it.
