Ball State lands another all-star
Brachen Hazen, 6'8 forward from Arkansas, is transferring to Ball State. He joins K. J. Walton, 6'3" 200 pound combo guard from Missouri, as the 2nd SEC player to come back "home" to play basketball. Both were Indiana high school all-stars, Hazen from Columbia City and Walton from Brownsburg. That gives the Cardinals a record 8 all-stars on their roster. Hazen has three years eligibility remaining, Walton two. Due to transfer rules, both will sit out next season.

Just wondering but how many kids make the Indiana high school all-star teams each season?

Thirteen (13) kids make the annual Indiana All Star team.

In that context it's pretty darn impressive to have 8.

They are not all from the same class, but I don't believe Ball State ever had more than five on their roster at any one time. Eight is really exceptional and bodes well for the future of the program.

That's true. But in this case, all were all-state. That is a very significant achievement.

8 out of 52 all-state players from Maine isn't that impressive. But a MAC school getting 8 of 52 from a basketball rich state like Indiana is very impressive IMO. It's also got to help draw fans as well.
