Just saw that play by #44 on your QB... That's central for ya, now know why we can't stand any parts of that school.

Nasty hit is here:

We are hoping they go with EFTE for the roof. The Carrier Dome is the last large Dome using the air supported roof.

We played at CMU...a few years ago (2014?). Won like 40-3...but the game was closer than the score indicated. Their stadium was ok but it was an unusually cold mid September morning...windy and low/mid 40s. It finally warmed up a bit by kickoff. I had no issues with them...but it was kinda a small crowd that day.

However, they came to the Dome in 2015 and #44 (Stanitzek) teed off on our QB well after he released the ball. He knocked him out with a concussion and our season went to crap as we were down to walkon QBs and recruited QBs who were not ready. CMU is coming back to the Dome to finish up the 2-1 and the fans are waiting for this player.

You can clearly see Dungey released the ball was being tackled and 44 loaded up and gave our QB Dungey a head snapping 2 hand shiver to his helmet.

BTW, you got some really good coaches from Syracuse...they should do well for you. Also, Drew Robinson is a good guy.

Can't wait to see you guys in Kalamazoo... you will LOVE it...

If our defense catches up...our team will be pretty dangerous in 2018. We only had 4 wins last year but the ACC Atlantic was the toughest division in CFB last year IMHO. Too many injuries and a new system took their toll. I think we'll win 5-6 games this year despite having one of the overall toughest schedules in CFB.

I actually liked our offense under Tim Lester...a good guy. I didn't know Moreland too much. I loved Tim Daoust...great guy...he'll be a head coach some day. Daoust might be your strongest coach on the staff...keep an eye out for him.

The Syracuse fan board is http://www.syracusefan.com

Syracuse.com is like MLive.com owned by same company Newhouse which has been a major donor at Syracuse University. Don't take the comments on articles at syracuse.com seriously...lots of trolls and idiots.

BTW, I know CMU is your arch-rival...but I didn't have any issues with their fans. I just have an issue with #44 on CMU...I hope it was a lapse in judgment...but our fans will give him some crap.

If you are thinking about coming east in 2019...here is some info on Syracuse

You guys are welcomed to our tailgate...

A few questions on tailgating?

I expect to bring a fairly large group of fans...minimum 50 but could be up to 100. The tailgate lots look spread over among the east and west side. Are all the lots cash lots day of the game? If so how much?
Is there a lot that is walkable (less than 3/4miles) that should be pretty easy to organize /set up at?

Are there any lots we can pre-purchase parking passes to?

Can we arrive 5-6 hours prior to kickoff and start setting up at any of the lots?

The lots near the buildings...do they allow folks to use the bathrooms inside or is it porta-potty hell?

Food question: What should be eat in Kalamazoo that is a local specialty? Any local coney, sausage you guys recommend?

Our tailgate will be open to Bronco fans...we'll most likely bring over some Upsate NY coneys to grill.

All usually $10 (cash)

Quote:Is there a lot that is walkable (less than 3/4miles) that should be pretty easy to organize /set up at?

Best spot for a large group is probably going to be in the large grassy area off Oakland Drive, west of Oliver. That would be my advice. Others might have different preferences.

Quote:Are there any lots we can pre-purchase parking passes to?

Not sure to be honest.

Quote:Can we arrive 5-6 hours prior to kickoff and start setting up at any of the lots?

Probably. Been done before.

Porta potty's

Quote:Food question: What should be eat in Kalamazoo that is a local specialty? Any local coney, sausage you guys recommend?

Ray Ray's is incredible -- Italian Sausage
Bell's Brewery (downtown)
Gonzo's BiggDogg Brewery (downtown)
Arcadia Brewing (BBQ)
Sweetwaters donuts (seriously amazing)
There's a Coney Island downtown
Crows Nest (breakfast)
Cosmo's Cucina
Martini's (dinner)
Roadhouse -- right across from Waldo Stadium. Great spot and very good food.

Coneys really aren't a big thing in Kalamazoo. They're more of a Detroit specialty.

I'll agree with some of the other posts. You're best bet for tailgating is the Oakland Drive lots. I don't think you can pre-pay.

If you like beer, you gotta check out Bell's. It's seriously one of the best breweries in the nation.

For breakfast, it might not be the best bet for a large group because it's so small, but Maggie's (on Stadium) is really good. Get yourself the Breakfast Stew. You won't be disappointed.

I think Bimbo's is the best pizza in Kalamazoo. But, I'm sure everyone has different opinions. It's also located downtown w/ a lot of other stuff around.

Hopcat is a fun place to go for food & drinks. They're becoming a thing in Michigan big cities: Grand Rapids, Detroit, Ann Arbor, KZoo. That's also downtown.

Downtown Kalamazoo has exploded in the last 10 years. Lots of cool bars & restuarants.

Yeah I agree re: Coney.

Always wished we had a true Coney Island here (we don't).

Also with you on Bimbo's and Hopcat.

Thanks all for the inputs...I'll be saving the info into a WMU Tailgate Folder for 2018.

Hopefully, some of you can make a trip to Syracuse. It is only about 9 hours by car with a short meal stop from Kalamazoo. So much to do in Upstate NY in the Fall: Niagara Falls, Finger Lakes Wineries, Casinos, World Class Golf and Salmon Fishing, Cooperstown and a huge entertainment center in Cuse are all within 1-2 hours.

WMU frankly seems like a program that could easily fit into the AAC. Everything I've seen sets you guys apart from most of the other MAC programs. I'll be cheering for you guys this year to win the MAC.

If you want the best breakfast you've ever had at 2:30 a.m., you have to try Crow's Nest. It's a little blurry, but I vaguely remember it being transcendent.

We regularly go through Syracuse on our way to and from West Point. It is a beautiful area for sure. I will likely find a way to go to the game, and hopefully it will work out that I can catch the WMU/Syracuse game and the Army game that same weekend.
