CFB Season Win Totals released
On the heels of last week's release of the Week 1 point spreads, today South Point released its CFB season win totals.
https://www.vsin.com/south-point-opens-c...in-totals/
Our total is set at 9 UNDER -130. In layman's terms, that means the book feels there is a slightly greater likelihood of WMU going UNDER 9 wins than there is going OVER 9 wins. If you wanted to bet UNDER, you would have to bet $130 to win $100. If you wanted to bet OVER, you would bet $100 to win $110.
Any potential bowl game win counts toward that total.
Some other teams:
MAC West:
Ball State 4 OVER -115
Central 7 UNDER -125
Eastern 4.5 OVER -120
NIU 6 UNDER -130
Toledo 8.5 UNDER -120
MAC East:
Akron 5.5
Bowling Green 4 UNDER -120
Buffalo 3.5
Kent 3.5 OVER -120
Miami (OH) 8 UNDER -125
Ohio 7.5
Others of interest:
Idaho 4.5
Michigan 8.5 OVER -120
Michigan State 5
Minnesota 7.5
Notre Dame 7.5
USC 10
The entire list can be found at the link I posted.
I took one rather large position on EMU OVER 4.5 wins. I won't be betting anything else at current prices.

Wow. A higher over/under than any team you mentioned other than SC. Vegas must think we're still gonna be a damn good team.

Vegas must think what I'm thinking...our defense will be very good.
It's still surprising though, considering we have one of the tougher OOC schedules. Ohio plays four non-con creampuffs as well as the weak MAC East and they're only at 7.5. Crazy.

I would expect the Defense to be very good, maybe better than last season. Still a solid ground game on Offense that can help keep the Defense off the field. Only USC seems to be a definite loss. None of the stronger MAC East teams on the schedule. I can see why it's set at 9.

I can see why it's set at 9 too. Besides Toledo and MSU which to me are toss up games, you have a likely loss at USC. There is no other game on that schedule WMU shouldn't win. Won't hear that around here though. Now that Lester is here, 7 wins is going to be okay again with this crowd.

Will 1 or 2 key injuries send us down to 7 wins, or do we have the depth to expect 9?

Who knows? It would depend on who it happens to. I think we have the depth to sustain a few injuries. Except maybe on the defensive line. Vegas is usually pretty good at this...

Have we just failed to notice a steep decline in the middle tier teams in this conference, because of recent success? Seems like a 9 win team by default. There are lots of good things still in place here, but it seems from this list more related to the fact that there just aren't many dangerous teams.

The beauty of big fish/little pond. The top 3 Mac teams can pencil in 6 conference wins every season. And if the schedule falls right and you get your two tough games at home, 7 wins is reasonable. The tough part is that 3rd OOC win. For WMU that's Mich st. For Toledo it's Tulsa(home game). For NIU it's SDST( if they beat BC. The money grab in dekalb has set up 1-3 starts to the next few seasons). So under 9 is a very reasonable 6-2 plus 2-2. Toledos number surprises me. They get you guys and niu at home and have the best chance at a third OOC win. But they do have Ohio.

Brand new QB with little to no experience, brand new WR corps, brand new coaching staff.... I'd be happy with seven wins and a bowl game.

Win totals are not as important as being in the MAC Championship mix late in the season. Having the opportunity to play meaningful conference games in November is more important than non-conference games in September.
Under Cubit, the season was usually over by November. Never got a sniff of a championship. Got some nice non-conference wins, but they are little more than a sugar high compared to a conference championship.
We play for championships which are hard to come by. Be in the mix in November. Have a chance; and it will be a good season. Win the Division and/or MAC Championship Game again and it will be another great season.
Just be a November conference contender, not a September pretender.

RE: CFB Season Win Totals released
I'm thinking 9. Not just seeing with Brown and Gold glasses but Defense, strong running game and solid blocking could carry this team until the passing game adjusts and gets experience. Don't underestimate the Mackey nominee at TE. A good receiving TE & RBs can be nice security blankets for a QB trying to learn the offense and new WRs.
What are the 5 that MSU can win? BGSU -yes, WMU I'd say is a toss up. B1G east Indiana & Rutgers both probable Ws. NU, Minn or Iowa 50/50 at best say they get 1. I see 4Ws and 3 maybes. Wouldnt touch an MSU bet all season.

Vegas must be thinking brovol will be calling the offensive plays for the Broncos.
