A10 - AAC challenge?
Interesting proposition from Rothstein. Both leagues have solid teams that can help boost one another's RPI. AAC maybe thinking of a challenge with Big East or P5, but A10 can be very interesting and fun to watch IMO.

I think it would be smart for AAC teams schedule home and home games with the better A10 programs. I think it would be a very poor decision to play an A10 v AAC challenge. There are 6 conferences they should consider doing a challenge with... if you can't get any of them so be it, but don't attach the A10 to your level.

A10 is probably a good match up for the AAC

I would be more for it if it were a neutral site thing...say, in Washington?

A10 - AAC challenge?
You can't call yourself P6 then schedule a challenge with the A-10. Truth is, they have been as good as the AAC, but we need to associate with a league that is perceived as above us.

RE: A10 - AAC challenge?
This challenge would make sense for schools in the AAC who are so bad other teams won't schedule them (due to the RPI hit--- ie. East Carolina, USF and Tulane), but makes no sense for UC, Wichita State, SMU, UConn and Memphis.
As Mark suggests, if UC wants to play an A10 school we can just schedule them.

And I am all for that. I would have no problem with a home-and-home series with about 2/3 of the Atlantic 10. But if we are supposedly a P6 conference, there is no way we should be picking up a challenge with the A-10.

Absolutely correct. Pitch the Pac 12--they need exposure in the Central and Eastern Time Zones. Even if it's just the cream of the AAC (UC, UCONN, Wichita, SMU) against selected Pac 12 members it could be mutually beneficial.
But the AAC shouldn't anoint the A-10 with peer status just to get a few games scheduled.

I get it as a way to help the Tulane's of the world. For us, it does nothing really. If we want a h+h with a good A10 team (how this would surely go), pretty sure we could just pick up the phone and we have done so.
However, there is some value to the Bearcats in the bottom of our league getting some better games on their schedules.

That needs to be achieved via scheduling mandates. Not our fault there are sorry asses like Jeff Lebo who are afraid to play anybody. Hell, ECU has probably 20 quality opponents within a 4-hour drive. You can't tell me they can't get Davidson or Richmond for a home-and-home. I'm not willing to lower our perception for an A-10 challenge just because some programs in the league can't pull their weight in basketball. Shape up or ship out.

if it gets us the Dayton game I've wanted since they got good again, I'd be fine with this

Not everyone agrees, but I think we should play Dayton at least semi-annually. Obviously one side or the other doesn't want to or else it would happen. It's a shame though. Guaranteed sell-out and high-RPI game.

UC refuses a home and home. That's why it doesn't happen.

Why not the Big East? PAC 12 could make sense. I would be more in favor of the Mountain West than the A10. Doesn't do anything for us. We should be playing Dayton every year anyway.

AAC drags down the P12.
MWC drags down the AAC.
A10 is very similar to the AAC and both conferences need better OOC scheduling to give more opportunities for at large bids.

I don't get that at all. They're not Wright State. Dayton is a very good program.

I mean Xavier also refuses a home and home with Dayton and that was a huge rivalry. It is what it is. I don't think UC and Dayton need to play every year... but I wouldn't mind scheduling the game now and then or scheduling games with good A10 teams (like the VCU series). However, the AAC should not schedule a challenge with the A10... the league has to aim for better than that.

Ya I think we should be playing Dayton 2 years at a time. You can ensure that as soon as they stop being good, we stop renewing it. While they are good, we should be playing them.

UC competes with UD for recruits so I am not in favor of playing UD until Kentucky Ohio St or Indiana plays UC home and home. That's the way I would go.
