Chip Kelly
Just saw that ESPN has signed Chip Kelly to work in the studio with them this season. Will be on the ESPN2 halftime shows. Also will have some part in their NFL Sunday SportsCenter coverage.

Interesting. Really think he'll be back in after this year- but we've thought that about guys before and they never went back. So who knows.

RE: Chip Kelly
Kelly was signed to a 5-year, $32 million, deal with the Eagles in January of 2013. He was fired after three seasons ($13 million remaining). He then signed a 4-year, $24 million, deal with San Francisco in January of 2016. Has fired after only a year. Between all of the buyouts and salaries he had received, I'm guessing he can take a year off, watch the game and look at improving himself as a coach.

He may not get another NFL head coaching gig, so the question becomes would he settle being an NFL OC, or would he want full control again as an NCAA head coach. My guess is that he becomes that latter, with potential openings at Arkansas, UCLA, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Notre Dame.

RE: Chip Kelly
Chip Kelly has spent most of his time in the northeast ( born and coached in New Hampshire) and later on the west coast.

If he goes back to college coaching, he may be interested in Boston College or UCLA if the head coaching job opens up. Since the chance for success is probably better at UCLA, that seems like a good place for him to go.

Or maybe he will wait until a higher profile west coast job like USC opens up.

RE: Chip Kelly
I don't know what coach would want him as an OC. He'd kill his team's defense.

RE: Chip Kelly
He was nuts for leaving Oregon. His program recruited itself. Had it made, much like Spurrier, and blew it for the NFL.

The problem is that if he had stayed at Oregon, the sanctions on Oregon for the recruiting scandels such as Willie Lyles would have been much greater. Chip Kelly had an Order to Show Cause on the NCAA. However, since he was leaving for the NFL, it didn't matter much.

The question would those questions come back if Chip Kelly was to accept another NCAA position?
