RE: Let's see who is honest...
I think calling people hypocrites for an INTERPRETATION of what they believe is far too common an occurrence... and invalidates the OP.
Being a hypocrite involves getting into the mind of someone else, which of course you can't do... so people are only sometimes actually being hypocritical, while often being called a hypocrite.
Simple example, people who believe in the death penalty but not abortion are often called hypocrites... ignoring the obvious due process difference between an innocent child and a convicted murderer. They're again called hypocrites for allowing surgery to remove a cancerous tumor, but not a fetus... again, ignoring the clear differences between genetic cell mutations and unique genetic material.
Throw in the difference between voting for someone because you support them vs voting for them because they are marginally better than the alternative... or the difference between having an opinion as to one's guilt of something vs being factually able to find them guilty under the law...
Everyone at almost all times can be considered a hypocrite... since opinions are often nuanced and depend on specifics not always identical. I reach ALL SORTS of 'liberal' conclusions based on conservative principles of 'nomb'.
I think what you really have is 70% or so of the country that wants to legislate their morality, and another 30% that have their own morality, but don't want to legislate it. The 70% are considered hypocrites by 'the other side' because they want to enforce their morality and the other 30% are because their opinions and legislative priorities often conflict.

RE: Let's see who is honest...
Both of the major political parties in the US play the exact same game, and use the same techniques they maliciously accuse their opponents of using.
Look at gerrymandering for the most obvious example. Both parties attempt it and both parties blast their opponents for attempting it.
For how many consecutive campaigns have we heard both parties claim they will lower taxes on the middle class and close corporate loopholes? Those loopholes are still there, because both parties candidates are sold out to the corporations that take advantage of those loopholes.
Both parties are liars, and I think that's WHY Trump won.
