RE: Montana Republican Congressional Candidate body slams reporter
The Democratic candidate is well known in Montana as a country singer. More in the roll of a Willie Nelson type of artist. This is why the race in Montana is closer there than you think.

He's also well known for not paying his taxes, defaulting on loans, not paying contractors, and filing false paperwork.

Quote:The Democratic candidate for Montana's sole U.S. House seat, a cowboy poet and musician running for public office for the first time, underreported $57,000 in income when he filed federally required financial disclosure statements two months ago.
Quote:His updated disclosures show Quist and his wife made about $136,000 in 2016. The original report identified about $79,000 in income, while a copy of Quist's 2016 tax return released to the AP by his campaign listed a total income of $64,805.
Quote:Quist's financial woes have led to increased scrutiny after revelations that he defaulted on a $10,000 bank loan, did not pay thousands of dollars to a contractor he hired and faced three tax liens from the state over $15,000 in unpaid back taxes.

A cowboy poet? LOL. Did he star in Brokeback Mountain? Is that the new dem counter-Trump strategy? Nominate estrogen factories that wear hats?

More fake news from Fox News.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/05/...orter.html
At that point, Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him. Faith, Keith and I watched in disbelief as Gianforte then began punching the reporter. As Gianforte moved on top of Jacobs, he began yelling something to the effect of, "I'm sick and tired of this!"
To be clear, at no point did any of us who witnessed this assault see Jacobs show any form of physical aggression toward Gianforte, who left the area after giving statements to local sheriff's deputies.
What are you to do when the witnesses are from Fox News?

Hopefully he brings this thuggish behavior to D.C. The gift that keeps on giving.

You leftists need to make up your mind. One minute you are OK with violence then you condemn it. If it's OK to "bash the fash" then it should also be OK to "slam a socialist".

Best thing for the GOP would be for this guy to lose today. Then you won't have to answer any questions about this and you can say he lost because of it and not Trump

Right...I don't see misdemeanor assault resulting in that. Especially for a guy with millions.

RE: Montana Republican Congressional Candidate body slams reporter
Gianforte was charged this morning with non-felony assault. The FOX reporter backed up the Guardian reporter's account of the incident. All three Montana newspapers that endorsed Gianforte resended their endorsement of Gianforte.
---
Not that I think it will really matter. Gianforte will probably win by 5 points. Montana is poorer, whiter, less educated, more religious on average than the US - in some categories by a wide margin. If Quist somehow wins, it would be VERY bad news for Trump. I'll be watching it to see if Trump is really in trouble.
----
By the way, you can't really blame any Gianforte weakness on this incident. The voters elected Trump, even with his multiple known failings.
---
Here's how I'll score it
Gianforte by 10 percent or more - Trumps voters have not moved
Gianforte by 5-10 percent - Trump has lost some voters
Gianforte by 0-5 percent - Trump has serious issues with his base, and this would clearly be a sign that Trump is in trouble and a Dem wave might be building
Quist wins - a disaster for Trump and the GOP. That would be a sign that the GOP controlled house is in imminent danger. You might see GOP Congressmen, who currently average 97% voting consistency with Trump start to bail on him. If a self funding, known candidate in Montana can outspend his oddball opponent by 10 times,, given Montana's strong alignment with the typical Trump voter, then the 60 or so districts where Trump won by a lower percentage and where the demographics are much less favorable to Trump would definitely be in play.
