The MAC baseball tournament gets underway today in Avon.

#3 Eastern Michigan vs. #6 Western Michigan - 9:30 AM
#2 Central Michigan vs. #7 Northern Illinois - 1 PM
#1 Kent State vs. #8 Toledo - 4:30 PM
#4 Ball State vs. #5 Ohio - 8 PM

Game 1 just finished up a half hour so ago. EMU came from 5-1 down to send it to extras(including 2 in the 9th), but WMU pulled it out in the 10th.

Already being a little behind schedule, gotta hope they avoid the rain drops the rest of the day.

Yeah, and how WMU did it:

Bases full of Eagles and only one out. Bottom of the 10th. Tying run at 3rd. Winning run at 2nd.

And then 'Baseball happened': The EMU batter hit into an easy double play.

CMU beats NIU 6-2. KSU just blew the third game open with 5 runs in the 7th and lead Toledo 7-0 with the game in the 8th.

7-0 final. Game 4 about to start

Ohio beats Ball St. 5-4 with a late score.

1:00 p.m. #8 Toledo vs. #4 Ball St.-Elimination game
4:30 p.m. #6 WMU vs. #2 CMU-Winner advances to Saturday
8:00 p.m. #1 KSU vs. #5 Ohio-Winner advances to Saturday

NIU playing horrible defense in the 4th inning. EMU takes the lead on a bunch of unearned runs.

Looks like Eastern Michigan sent the Huskies packing.

That was some slow baseball. I went out for seemed like a long time and came back expecting to see the second game and they were still playing.

Toledo and Ball State are tied up in the top of the 8th.

Rockets blow it open late, beat the Cards 15-5.

In two rematches of opening day games, Friday has #3 EMU vs. #6 WMU @ 1:00 p.m. and #8 Toledo vs. #1 KSU at 4:30 in elimination games. The winners will advance to Saturday to play CMU and Ohio, respectively.

On Saturday, play continues until every team has two losses except one on each side of the bracket. (EMU/WMU/CMU on one side and UT/KSU/OU on the other side) The survivors of each group play for the Championship on Sunday.

If both teams on Sunday have one loss after the first Championship game, a second Championship game is played.

Looks like WMU isn't going to pull out a fluky, miracle tourney run this season like we did last year.

EMU up 4-0 in the 4th. Broncos had the bases loaded with no outs, and produced no runs.

Kent wins 6-3 to set up semi-final Saturday.

If EAstern beats Central and/or Kent beats Ohio, there will be elimination games at 4:30 and 8 PM as needed.
