I agree.
IMHO, Tubby and others are greatly underestimating M andersen's ability to come in to Memphis area and recruit.

Does anyone remember the late 80's when fans were clamoring to play UT in basketball so we could get revenge for football. Except we didn't. We lost 4 of the first 6 games, 3 of them at home.

No matter how many times you repeat this lie, it is still a lie. The one game left on the cancelled contract was to be played in Fayetteville.

Call the Hogs!

This is fantastic news!

Brings back great memories of my college days when we played the Hogs and Ole Miss every year around Christmas Break. Eddie Sutton, Sidney Moncrief, Ron Brewer, and Marvin Delph. The Tigers beat them in Little Rock in '76-'77 (Bradley spit a big hocker on a heckler). Lost to them in Memphis the next year and again in Little Rock '78-'79. Kirk's first year we beat them again in Memphis but lost by 15 to Vandy at home.

We were 3-1 vs. Ole Miss during my four years at Memphis. The Metro Conference schedule during those years was brutal and we were 1-2 vs. Dayton during that stretch.

Good times, great home schedules, awesome student section seats on the floor of the Mid-South Coliseum. Students would line up at both windows at the Fieldhouse ticket office to show their ID's and pick up a ticket.

You whiney youngsters don't appreciate a good thing when it's right under your nose.

L'ville won't do home/home - yet. Being discussed.
Neither will Gonzaga.
Xavier was willing. Wonder why that didn't get renewed?
Old Miss? They're not relevant and certainly not a better choice than Arkinsaw.
Okie and Okie State might be options. But they're not helping attendance - which is driving a lot of this right now.

Unfortunately, right now we have to hold our nose and play the SEC regionals.

I think Tubby is more concern about playing his friends, which some of them happen to be regional schools.

Siena - Jimmy Patsos
Arkansas- Mike Anderson
Alabama - Avery Johnson
Tennessee - Rick Barnes
Loyola MD - G. G. Smith

With the more conference games and the challenges, It's going to get harder to schedule a serious non-conference schedule outside of the preseason tournaments. It's the truth.

Good observation. It fits Tubby's pattern.

I think it's a good thing. I'm not sure what pattern you are talking about. If Tubby can use his connections to get us a better non-conference schedule then that's a positive.

I'm more concern about the AAC stepping its game up, and fans recognizing that there are some good teams in that conference. We are going to get our best games from the AAC.

Ok. The pattern was a Saul reference. I get it now.

Until the AAC teams regularly schedule-and defeat-higher profile teams, the AAC wil always be thought of as the "Interloper".

And even that might not do the trick.

I wouldn't give them any basketball games unless they pick up the football series. At least the last game due from the previous contract.

Was that a road or home game? I thought it was road but can't remember.

This is a great thing for Memphis.

It's a home-and-home. That's all that matters. Can't be afraid to go head to head with the higher profile load-mouthed cousin just because of recruiting.

Congrats to Tubby. Now go out there and turn it into a barbeque.

I moved to Northwest Arkansas last year, so anything that brings my Tigers to Fayetteville is a good thing. Look for me at Bud Walton in my blue and gray.

I can think of dozens of other schools that would be a more appealing match up than Arkansas. Just about any team from the big east would be more interesting to me.

Why not Duke, North Carolina, KY, Kansas, Indiana?

Oh, because they won't agree to a home and home.

I suppose the first thing you do is call them up say "Hey, how about we schedule us a home and home"

Marquette > Arkansas
Butler > Arkansas
Villanova > Arkansas
Xavier > Arkansas
Gerogetown > Arkansas

You tell me any one of those teams is not a better TV game than Arkansas.
