CBS to Broadcast AAC Basketball Semis and Final
According to multiple teams' twitters The American will replace Big Ten as CBS’s final championship game leading into the 2018 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Selection Show. They will also carry the semi finals.

Interesting. What brought on that kind of switch?
From an exposure stand point, its effectively like moving from ESPN to ABC. The Wichita effect?
Regardless of why, that's a pretty substantial elevation of exposure level. lol.....Going to be disappointing if we find out we are being moved to CBS-Sports Network.....

I agree.... It didn’t take long for Wichita State to have a positive impact on our basketball image. Since CBS is showing interest in our basketball and televises tournament games, I would have to think that we will get more teams in the tournament with that kind of national exposure. This type of interest is also a positive signal that there is demand for our product. I hope this translates into more tv $$$ in the future….

The conference press release states that this is for 2018 only. Going back to ESPN in 2019.

Could be the Aresco affect as well. The guy was the president of their sports division just a few years ago. Just throwing it out there---what if CBS broadcast is looking for a nice reasonably priced college football property to pair with the SEC on CBS-OTA?

Espn is selling the game. At least we know cbs is willing to buy our content. I really wish we would go ahead and lock up 2 more bb schools. Seems like we have demand.

I believe our basketball is the biggest thing perception-wise that separates us from the G4. Sure, we have more money, better attendance, and better football overall... however, I'm not convinced the general public realizes it yet. But with basketball, we have national brands like UConn, Cincinnati, Wichita, Memphis, and Temple. Those are household names in basketball that people take notice of.

Yeah I mean there is no reason this can't be one of the top b-ball conferences. The league needs the 5 you mentioned to be good to very good every year and then a 2-3 others to emerge each year as good to very good and then your are 7-8 deep each season. And it does appear Houston and UCF are rising. Hopefully SMU can sustain its success and Tulsa seems to always be decent. USF and Tulane appear to be trying which is all you can ask. Hopeffuly this is the year the league really shines in b-ball.

Getting good ratings in this time slot will be very important and could determine the future of this league.

WSU is going to be a beast next year. So glad they are coming in 2017 not 2018.

Most AAC teams are now pumping significant resources into basketball. Thats going to make a difference. Always does.

The Big Ten Tournament is at Madison Square Garden next season, but that required the league to move back its tournament by one week because MSG is locked in with the Big East during the "normal" tournament week. This will only be for next season and why CBS has open slots on the Saturday and Sunday prior to the NCAA Tournament Selection Show in 2018 (which will now be filled by the AAC). In 2019, the Big Ten goes back to its normal tournament dates (including having its semifinals on Saturday and the final game on Sunday prior to the NCAA Tournament Selection Show).

Have no idea if/when USF will be improved, but the new coach has brought in tons of new players, many of them transfers, immediately eligible. So USF will not have the same lousy team they had last year, at the very least.

According to the AAC Twitter account, we will be on CBS Sports, not CBS. We didn't get an upgrade, we got the shaft.
