USM and East Carolina home-and-home
Basketball, but hey, it's a start. They were probably attracted by our #331 RPI, but I'll take it.
Now, let's get a football series.

Shoot! You had me. I thought this was for football. We should drop the basketball program and use that money on football.

No matter how bad you are, as long as they have Lebo you are favored.

The past 2 years we've lost to Jackson State (SWAC) 2x and William Carey (NAIA). I guarantee ECU doesn't have these bad losses under their belt.

I hope the presidents and AD's talk about restrictions on playing these types of OOC teams in basketball in the future at the league meetings. Especially H&H. There's no way we're ever going to be seen as a decent conference in BB if we're traveling to DII teams.

Don't forget two times we went to 2OT against the D2 (or D3) teams Mississippi College and Tougaloo last year.

You are joking about traveling to see east Carolina being d2 right?

RE: USM and East Carolina home-and-home
How does Lebo still have a job? He's been to two NITs in 19 years of coaching at Tennessee Tech, Chattanooga, Auburn and ECU. He's never been to the NCAA. In the 13 years he's been at Auburn and ECU, he has finished in the top-3 of the conference one time and finished with a winning record in conference twice. He's one game under .500 between the two (even worse if you eliminate non-D-I games) and is 41-57 (16-38) over the past three years.

I just don't get it. Even if he may have elevated the program a little (because I know ECU was terrible), hasn't he kind of shown his ceiling? Wouldn't you want to bring in another guy who has a chance of elevating it a little more? Are they so worried about going 10-20 instead of 14-16 that they don't want to give it a shot?

It's mind boggling. I figured they just weren't putting the money into basketball but apparently he's making close to 1 million a year. For that kind of money playing in the AAC they should be able to get someone that could bring thier program up to atleast respectable.

Let's not suggest they make any changes. I want ECU to keep him for life.

All our fans got pissed because USM ADs in the past never came up w/ any reno plans...so previous AD McGillis goes "ok here ya go, check out these plans, however...we're gonna need this amount though"......and the same b!tching fans went *crickets *crickets....bottom line, we're poor (relatively) and our basketball program has been a joke. We don't deserve these nice facilities right now and we darn sure don't have the money.

Tyndall left, his cheating got us sanctions, and the new coach doesn't have the wins, personality or style of play to bring in fans. Basketball has collapsed. Add to that, no one wants to invest in it, when football and baseball are winners. We need that and we need solid to great basketball, but it's hard to get any buy in due to the current state of the program.

Improprieties under Tyndall, which led to a long threat of probation followed by the actual probation. Most fans are displeased with Tyndall's replacement, Doc Sadler, who got off to a slow start before all the mess hit the fan. The last few seasons have been brutal to endure and the lack of attendance shows it.

I don't get it either but the ECUites love him. At ECU he is 114-118 overall and is 43-75 in conference. His highest finish in conference was in 12-13 when ECU was 4th. Since at ECU he has finished:

CUSA
10-11 T 7th
11-12 10th
12-13 T-4th
13-14 12th

AAC
14-15 T 7th
15-16 T 9th
16-17 9th

So if my math is correct then Lebo is averaging finishing coming in 8th place in conference. Truthfully I hope he is an ECU Lifer.
