They do have a substantial endowment and their own tv network, which C-USA could really use right now.

If we lose 4 or 5 teams, why not?

Give me Liberty and give me death (in other words, if they join, I'm no longer a CUSA fan).

Only if we get million dollar plus paydays for playing at Lynchburg.

No. James Madison, Missouri State, Jacksonville State, NDSU, etc will be ahead of Liberty. They will be the last team picked.

If some of the eastern schools in C-USA really do want more of a bus league as has been inferred by fans and a few administrators then I could see a push by those schools to include JMU and Liberty.

Liberty has big dreams and a big pocketbook, so I'm sure conferences will be keeping an eye on them. If they start selling out every game and pulling in big tv ratings when given the opportunity, the stigma they currently possess will become easier to overlook.

If you had told me in 2001 that Louisville would be in the ACC in 15 years I would have laughed at you. But with great leadership, success on the field/court, and most importantly, one of the most profitable athletic departments, they were able to shed their commuter school image and get an invitation to one of the more academically snooty conferences. While BYU has demonstrated that it can be hard for a religious school to break into a PAC/ACC level conference, they would be highly coveted by any G5 conference. Don't bet against Liberty.

I hope Liberty has the AAC as their goal.

I don't know what the future holds for us but I am excited about being an Independent. Going this route might be the best way to go FBS for LU. Not being pigeonholed into playing schools no one has heard of in a conference is a blessing in disguise. Right now I just want to be a successfully FBS school if that leads to getting into a good conference that's even better if not I'm happy too.

The SEC can invite them. They aren't a university. Its a right winged propaganda factory in Lynchburg VA and an online degree mill. Founded by one of the worst, most vile persons to ever walk the earth and call himself religious.

Yeah I want my university to be associated with this man, his belief system and love of hate. There is a special place in hell for Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and Fred Phelps. I truly hope once they are all there together they have to eat crap sandwiches all day.

Oh look, another cave man who thinks an online school is a degree mill because it's not the way he did it.

Herd, I'm confused. I just don't follow what you are stating. Don't hold back. What do you really feel. Let it out this time <grin>.

RE: Does C-USA need to invite Liberty to join in the future?
I think the better question is would Liberty need a conference if they are successful. If they become like BYU, then I'm sure CUSA or the MAC maybe interested. But if it's gets to that level they may or may not need a conference unless the bowl access is isn't there or they want to play for an Access bowl spot...something that really hampers BYU.

The antiquated brick & mortar education will soon be just a relic of the prideful past. Online education will do to college campuses what Amazon is doing to Walmart and malls. And it can't come soon enough!
