Checked the bracket today, and sure enough all 16 Regional Hosts remain undefeated.
There is a reason they are the host, and it's because, more time then not, they are the better team.

Yes, but if you compare it to baseball, a top 8 seed often enough loses early in their own regional at least once a year.
the issue is variance. Softball is a game that can be easily dominated by a single pitcher over a multiple game stretch. While a single pitcher can dominate a baseball game, he can't dominate an entire series, so the championship involves every player on the team performing at their peak level for 3 weeks.

RE: NCAA Softball Tournament thread
Women's sports just don't have as much parity as men's sports.
GS is just outside the RPI top 100 in sofbtall and has lost on the mercy rule several times. That rarely happens to us in baseball. Same reason the NCAA WBB tournament has many more ugly games in the early rounds than in the late rounds.
BTW, maybe Minnesota can break that trend this year, but I doubt it.

By Rule LSU earns an extra Run because they are LSU and the lightning delay is your fault.

Actually watching ESPN bases loaded. OU goes down to NDSU. Word to CCU, proof when you get back as defending champ, it's last year's news.

B5 Aggie batter bunts, bounces back and hits her, TXST players all point, Coach comes out & argues, Umps do nothing, runner eventually scores (w/2 outs). Tied 1-1.

How dare you guys argue with the great Texas A&M! Don't you know your job is to provide cannon fodder on their path to greatness?

RE: NCAA Softball Tournament thread
It's so not the NCAA's, but our Club Softball team. (You know, the Sport our Athletic Department keeps threatening to sponsor at the Sun Belt Level) beat Clemson, Grand Valley State, Florida State, and James Madison this weekend to advance to tomorrow's Club Softball National Championship Game. Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Florida State, and James Madison are the possible opponents. Whoever we play would have to beat us twice to take the title.
This is only the 5th year we've ever had a Club Softball Program. Have been in the World Series all 5 years. First Finals appearance. Was started to provide an avenue for Northeast Arkansas kids where Softball is really popular at the High school level.

I can't imagine the club softball programs at any of those places are great, considering if the players were great they'd be on their respective varsity teams. But congrats nonetheless, go kick butt.
By the way, I believe Clemson announced they are adding Softball as a DIV I sport. Mohajir could take notes. :)

No, it's terrible, but it's something.
Only real thing in the way of us starting softball is the Financials. In order to start it, we'd have to build baseball a new stadium and convert the current baseball stadium to softball. We'd also need enough cash to make sure we don't just show up and become the Western Divisions version of App State Softball, getting our teeth kicked in every week. Something about ULL, USA, and Texas State being very good.
I think he's said before it would be about 5 or 6 million needed to upgrade baseball and start softball.
