My thoughts too. I think I still have some baseball Street and Smith's from the '60's. I bet the old Sporting News weekly tabloid would blow their minds. The baseball bible. Before the talking heads it was the way we kept up with Major League baseball when I wore a younger man's clothes.
Exactly. If you were a real baseball fan you subscribed to the Sporting News.

Not to go off topic, but I bought a bunch of old complete sporting news years in really nice binders from eBay.

I have a number of years from 1975 to 1984. My dad had them when I was a kid and I loved reading them.

The great part about going back and re-reading them now is the incredible amount of topics talked about then that are still talked about now.

Tv contracts, realignment, power schools, cheating, etc.

All the topics relevant and in the news today were there 40 some years ago.

Thanks now I have Piano Man stuck in my head

I wondered who would catch that. Sorry but it's a great song.

No worries, the song is the only place I've ever heard that expression, but I was wondering if it was a common "old man" saying in some parts of the country or something.

Nope...as far as I remember it's the only place I have ever heard it. Great line that I don't mind stealing.

Something else interesting about that cover is the main photo of Hunter Renfroe could very easilt have been catching passes from Lamb. He grew up not far from Clemson and took a PWO there after a camp visit. App was his top choice until then.

No. They just released the regional covers.

I bought one around lunchtime today at B&N here in Richmond, VA. It was the SE cover featuring Lamb. It jumped out at me because in VA, we usually get the Mid Atlantic cover featuring HokiePokies, Turtles, or Nittly Lions on the cover.

Their predicted finish is:
App*, Troy*, Ark St*, Idaho*, GaSouthern*, Louisiana (not UL Lafayette), USA, ULM, Coastal, Ga St, Texas St, NMSU.
*-bowl teams

App's Jalin Moore joins a QB at Okla St and a LB at USC Trojans as three under-the-radar players on the verge of stardom.

They predict App to go to the Bahamas Bowl for some reason.

Also, I found this gem on the first sentence of the CUSA page:

"Conference USA continues to evolve and develop into one of the better leagues outside the Power Five."

Bunch of young uns on this board. 😀. S&S was THE authority in preseason magazines until American City Business Journals, who published The Sporting News, bought them in 2007. The Street & Smith name has actually been out there as publisher of the Sports Business Journal. Good to see them back!

I like how in the south, it seems like every state gets its own cover.

I heard of it but did not know it was still around. I think Phill Steele's magazine has pretty much buried all the other preview mags.

I think that's pretty awesome. Doubt I would have bought it otherwise, but now I will...
