Trail or Moore
With Gibson outta the mix for this year, who are you rooting for? The Gibson news was in the Enquirer interview with Fickel. Gibson will redshirt this year and have two years left.

CLF also made it sound like it is a close competition, but he'll pick a guy and stick with him.

Run Boone out of the wildcat all season. 03-wink

Since we have to pick one, Moore, I guess. Trail does not look like a high major QB to me and Moore infuriates with his late decisions and inability to hold on to the damned ball. Here is hoping for a killer defense this year.

RE: Trail or Moore
I'm hoping a new staff will help the QB's mature, but I am not holding my breath. I thought we have seen glimpses of greatness from Moore in 2015, and I was not very impressed with Trail after last season. I would feel a bit better with Moore taking the snaps...Maybe a new staff can work magic with these guys.

I don't know how anyone could look at anything that happened last year and make a determination on a player's potential based upon what was done on the field.

We've seen Moore under Gran and Hinshaw. I think we've seen what he can be at his worst and best. What is it about Trail that relegates him to a bad QB?

Neither. A grad transfer not seen on the current roster.

Both guys were beyond awful last season. I hope we can all chalk it up to the last coaching staff, because if I am being honest even Gunner blew last year in his limited playing time (I know that my be sacreligious to some).

As Rath pointed out, I think Trail has limited arm strength and for that reason I think Moore is our best option of the two. Moore had some good moments two years ago against Memphis, Miami (FL) and three quarters of BYU.

Agree I am optimistic that Moore can have a very solid year. And the sampling on Trail is so small he probably only appeared in three or four games: wasn't he a four
star on some of his recruiting profiles with interest from some high profile teams.

Nobody had success behind last year's o-line. The same could be said for Moore and Kiel.

RE: Trail or Moore
Really think that the only thing that Trail has over Moore is that he seems to be a little more athletic. Noticed that when he would take off running (which was probably too often).

Moore probably gets my vote but they are going to have to win games in spite of the QB play, not because of it.

Well, let's just say I was not that impressed even when he had plenty of time. Looked like a backup for that team in Oxford.

It kind of became obvious as the year went on, that a lot of Moore's problems are mental/confidence related. True, he doesn't have great arm strength but that's not what killed us most of the time with him. If he can do enough to just not shoot us in the foot, I think it'd make a huge difference in winning games.

Wow... how long did it take you to break down the film from the two or three snaps from last year you're referencing? 05-stirthepot

Moore hasn't been the same since the second half of the 2015 BYU game, which in effect was the turning point of the entire Tuberville era. Moore looked pretty good through the first half, we even had the lead. In the second half, we made no adjustments and he got his teeth kicked in over and over (I think he was sacked ~10 times).

Hopefully Denbrock can do some good head-shrinking and make Moore serviceable this year. We don't need him to go out and throw for 551 yards a game or anything-- just be a game manager who doesn't take sacks, turn the ball over and consistently move the chains.

RE: Trail or Moore
I think the regression of Kiel speaks volumes for the coaching the quarterbacks received. You have young quarterbacks who needs to be coached up mentally as well as physically. If you have a Hayden Moore still playing like he just finished playing BYU a week ago the next year, that is a problem, a coaching problem.

RE: Trail or Moore
It all starts with the offensive line. I think either QB can be serviceable with adequate protection and a strong running game. I am leaning towards Moore because I've seen him get the job done. He just needs to have an O-line he can have confidence in.

RE: Trail or Moore
I like Ross.... He takes what the defense gives him and makes plays...
He is able to move the team.. Hayden just seems to "wing it" and hope for the best.. Double, triple coverage or throw it long and see if they can catch it..... I'd like to see more of Sopko.. He appears to have a strong arm (accuracy needs some work) and can run...

I think that they'll play to the QB's strengths. Don't see a lot of deep passes but check downs and laterals.
