Hope it doesn't rain!

What happens if a foul balls lands in that area and damages the equipment? Just bush league all-around.

RE: UTSA fans...is this normal for visiting team's radio crew?
For UTSA baseball, nothing at all is normal. We're all embarrassed by the field we play on because it's more akin to a high school baseball stadium, so it isn't even a step up for our recruits in that regard. It's amazing we can even field competitive teams with the facilities we have. Putting the visiting side's radio crew out there is even more embarrassing. I really don't know what's up with that, and apologize for the bush-league accommodations.

When I recently attended a UTSA/Rice game in Houston, a reliable source informed me that we're next to last among FBS schools in terms of institutional support for athletics. IOW, we're next to last in terms of how big a cut UTSA earmarks for athletics.

If you ask me whether I take issue with us devoting the lion's share of our money towards advancing UTSA's academic pedigree, I'll typically say no. But now that we're in C-USA and find ourselves so far behind everyone else in terms of facilities, it's unquestionably time for us to look at making some changes, and getting bigger donations from our alumni. And since we're looking for a new president, I also think it's imperative that our next president be more a supporter of athletics than our last president was or we'll find ourselves falling even farther behind.

So forgive us for what you see up there.

ODU's PBP guy posted a picture of a similar setup when we played there earlier this year.

That's pretty sad. I've seen better accommodations for opposing radio crews at high school stadiums.

RE: UTSA fans...is this normal for visiting team's radio crew?
This goes back to the fact that some schools were not ready for the move to C-USA. I have nothing against UTSA. I'm sure it is a fine school, but their facilities when you look at things like this and their basketball arena, an off campus football arrangement, etc. - not ready for primetime. They have a lot of potential in football but that alone should not be a reason for the travel predicaments this league has put itself into. Has FIU ever built a facility for visiting football radio crews or do they still sit in the stands too?

Based off the twitter conversation at least FIU puts a tent over your head to keep you in the shade and out of the rain for the most part

Good thing our radio crew brought our own duct tape one year at FIU. The tent was about to launch into the crowd. Our color man was mad as hell--- gave FIU's AD an earful (he and the AD already knew each other from the Cleveland Brown organization).

I do think they put our radio crew in one of their home fan-suites, now.

While I do agree, I doubt baseball is even a factor when considering moving to a new conference.

Sad indeed... but we are stepping up our game and getting some help along the way.

True about help coming, but none of that addresses our pathetic baseball facility or our basketball arena. We've had baseball for 25 years now, and there's simply no excuse, after a quarter of a century, for our teams to be playing in what's basically a high school facility. I love most things about our school, but am frankly disgusted at our lack of foresight with regard to those two facilities.

That UTSA baseball coach does a tremendous job with what he has to work with. And, yes, facilities make a huge difference when recruiting and developing players.

Didn't say that it was. In looking back I did reference facilities writ large - not just baseball - which absolutely should have been taken into consideration. That's how this league ended up with such illogical additions particularly during that first round.

As a Charlotte fan I feel fortunate to have the nice facilities we do...on the whole they're among the best in cusa.

Then that makes me angry because performance doesn't match facility quality.

UTSA fans, how old is your radio guy? He sounds very young, just wondering.

Our facilities are no where near the top of C-USA. We have no indoor hitting facility, we have no visitor's clubhouse, we have no video board. Have you seen the facilities in this conference?

Yes, we have a nice place to watch a ballgame (except no video board), but the player development facilities are about 2 decades behind most.
