Yes, because the Cajuns didn't have time to win game 3 against the Chants. 03-wink

USA will be #3 since UTA will get #2 for winning the west, despite not having the second best record.

And to further USA's misery, you get to face your good friends from Troy in the first round of the tournament.

And face that pitcher with an 0.93 ERA, second best in the country. Bad set up for a team wanting a tourney run for an at-large bid to the NCAA.

Yeah, USA gets a really short end of the stick bracket wise in this tournament. You lose the 1 on a freaking tie game, lose the 2 because of divisions, and get stuck facing the best pitcher in the league, who happens to play for your fierce rivals in game 1 of the tournament at the unholy start time of 8am Central.

Beyond that game, you're looking at a potential game against one of the leagues top offenses in UTA, who you did not face this year, and either a Texas State team who hits like crazy, or an Arkansas State team who is notorious for knocking out teams they shouldn't in the tournament as the play in round representative.

Meanwhile, Gunner Leger, Alex Cunningham, and Evan Challenger are all in the same bracket next weekend. Woof.

After spotting Mavs 5, Bobcats score 5 in the B 5th to tie it.

After 7, still knotted at 5

The Jags take game three from Troy 10-7, so it did come down to the half game tie for the championship. This was a tough game -- typical between our two schools. I hate we have played them 4 times this year and now have to face them again in the tourney. It's not an easy draw for USA.

By the way, Troy took a late 7-5 lead into the ninth, then South hit a 2-run HR and 3-run homer.

Extra innings is not what you want right before the conference tournament! But if you're going to do it, then might as well go about 20 innings or so for good measure.

B7, and it's still Louisiana 5, ULM 0.

Oh, and for those who love good baseball there was a great one in TN today: our friends from Ruston gave up an 8-4 lead in the 8th, to lose the game/series to mtsu by a run-off double, 9-8.
Really exciting to watch a great comeback like that.

I also don't know how many loses in the conference tourney they can have before the bubble they are on will burst?

03-lmfao Honestly, after they jumped out to a 5-0 lead, I thought we were done . .

When they went up 6-5 in the 8th, I figured the same. Yeah, I'd rather not go extras, and I'd certainly not want to go deep extras . . . But I applaud this team's fight, and for our Seniors, hope that they complete the comeback . .

Typical in that we always come up short against you guys. What a joke. This team has just tanked the last week. The last few years have been nothing but mediocrity. Aside from the three-game Louisiana series, where it appeared that the Cajuns did more to help UTA than we did, this has been nothing but mediocrity. That seems to be the hallmark under Coach Thomas. He is still operating under SLC rules where only conference matters, as we again have a sub-.500 OOC record. We have slipped to the last place tram in DFW and still can't get past the Bobcats, something like 3-5 (maybe a bit more, going from memory) regular season series wins since 2000. We are beter than this.

And the losing streaks continue, 22 (Cajuns) and 13 (league) respectfully.

Sure thought the blind squirrel would find a nut this weekend.

Coastal beat us 17-2 in our lone matchup last year so I guess we did improve some...
