I'm sure it is a nice enough place but why not rotate the meeting among the schools? Seems like a good opportunity to generate some extra publicity for the host school.

You've clearly never been pampered by the Amelia Island Westin. Their breakfast buffet is to die for, and don't even get me started about their pool-side bar. Stella Artois? You betchya! Shock Top Belgian White? Absolutely! Goose Island 312? You know it! Blue Point Toasted Lager? Yes, and you don't even have to leave the pool!

Yeah. They could see how the other half lives. Here in Raleigh, we could put everyone up at the Double Tree by Hilton, where they could enjoy golf at the beautiful Lonnie Poole course, followed by an Italian feast at Amedeo's. I bet Amelia Island can't top that. And they would probably get a lot more actual work done.

Ah, the REAL reason the ACC Network isn't launching before 2019!

He says that, but he's clearly never been to the "Blackbeard's Cove: mini golf, ice cream, games, and much, much more" in Raleigh.

It's by the airport Sheraton convention center, and its fantastic. Sure, it's not the Amelia Island Westin, but it's no slouch. Their soft serve ice cream options really are top notch. Do you want chocolate? Vanilla? Chocolate/vanilla swirl? Forget about it! They have much more! I'm talking strawberry, strawberry/chocolate swirl, cotton candy, and even peach! ...PEACH!

And don't even get me started on the pirate parrot on hole 7. Yes, he's the bane of every golfer's existence, but man, when you finally pop one past his beak of death .... it's amazing.

P.S. Sorry about the thread derailment Wolfman! I actually very clearly have no idea what the actual answer to your question is.

That's ok. The question was mostly rhetorical. I think we all know the reason why. However, if you want to play some golf, Pinehurst #2 is pretty well known in some circles. If you want ice cream I recommend the NC State dairy. Be prepared though. It doesn't have any of the additives, preservatives or ingredients with Latin names that you may be used to.

For all the talk about Pinehurst, there are exactly zero pirate-y parrots on premise. I've checked. But as a fun and fitting fact, it was originally bank-rolled by sticky soda company money. In fact, as per their Wikipedia page, Pinehurst was originally supposed to be a place where those of modest means could have some fun. But I guess the Boston industrialist who founded Pinehurst changed his mind after he saw what Clemson fans actually looked like (ZING!). Regardless, I'm sure Dartmouth is jealous.*

*Dartmouth was founded as a school to help educate Native Americans, who were largely in the lowest class in the area at the time. It's obviously now an incredibly selective school with more money than they know what to do with, and overwhelmingly populated by rich non-Native American kiddos.
