Or what happened the 20 prior years. I love getting lectured about being a johnny come lately by this crew.

None of us mentioned 20 years ago except the GS guy. Try to keep up ...Lol. Oh and you are a Johnny come lately. Ah newbies ya gotta Love 'em and all their little boy championships THEY bring up....Lol.

Missing my point. If we win one more SBC championship in the next 15 years we would have matched your pace.

I actually like Arkansas State fan's devotion. I once lived in Arkansas, and they definitely have an uphill climb in getting love and recognition. I hope we stay in a conference together for years to come, because their fans are as stubborn and arrogant as ours. 04-cheers

Now I clicked...there is a decent chance I take all three that fell below GS's fearless leader over him if given a choice.

I think Withers was the worst coach in FBS last year. Certainly had the worst team. Maybe he was left with nothing.

But man, were they bad.

I think Texas State might take you up on that offer.

We won that game due to clock management late. Without doing that well we would have run out of time.

And bad clock management on our part.

Although ultimately the problem was we had no offense all year, not just against you guys. We got 5 turnovers from you guys. Only in bizarro world should we have lost that game.

I'm not sure its as much clock management as it was playcalling. You guys ran the same direction like 70 percent of the time in the 2nd half and basically never passed. Became very easy to stop.

RE: Athlon Ranks The SBC Football Coaches
Most of the newbies to the Sunbelt have no idea how bad the "dark ages" of StAte football were. We were the poster child of how not to move to 1A. A lot of schools learned from us. We were a powerhouse small school division of division one in the 70's, and then again a 1AA power under Lacewell. He did not want us to move up the way we did at the time we did...which is why he went to the Cowboys.

We went from winning a lot and battling bigger schools to the wire to losing to a division 2 school at homecoming. We did everything wrong that could possibly have been done wrong and the "powers that be" knew it. It was money.....or lack of it to be more specific. We fielded 1A teams but with 1AA scholarship money. There was one year when we had.....I believe 50 something scholarship players. We did not award our full scholarship allotment until Roberts' 2nd or 3rd year here, I think. We did not invest in football from the late 80's to the mid- 2000's. It was dismal. We had one game with about 300 in the stands.

I should point out that Roberts had the task of beginning to build our program and he didn't have a big budget to do it, but he began the process the right way. He started with nothing.

In 2011 we hit the reset button. We had new leadership at the University level who realized that athletic branding would mean growth for the school as a whole. We began to spend money on our facilities and coaches. All this is new for us since we essentially never moved up to 1A. Beating Texas A and M under Roberts was probably the catalyst that started to change our thinking.

We like it a lot better this way and have the leadership now to continue our rise.

One of our posters on The Den (arkansasstateredwolves) has this as his signature:

"We took ASU Sports Network from 4 to 23 stations, KBTM Talk Radio to #2 in market, raised revenue by over 10 times in the 1990's, when football was bad."

This describes us and football is pretty good now.

When you rush 3 on a passing down and leave no one within 10 yards of the LoS, you are just asking any QB who is not a complete statue to pick up 10-15 yards.

It's King Karl's fault. He's been rigging this league to help Ark State for years.

C'mon. No one else has figured that out.

I had forgotten how infuriated I was after that play when we handed the ball off twice to our RB instead of throwing it downfield.

That game was so much two teams trying to out inept the other. Thankfully you guys did just enough to out inept us in the end.

Rankings do not matter. The Cajuns will have a new HC for the '18 season.

I think most here know we are co-favorites to win the league next year... we return nearly the whole team.

App has the easiest conference schedule, avoiding both Troy and Arkansas State. I'm not sure exactly how you can say there isn't clear preference for co-favorites.
