AAC Softball 2017
Wanted to start this thread earlier but didn't. Anyways, Tulsa (39-15) ended up winning the conference tournament this year (back-to-back) and the regular season title. We edged out Houston (30-25) in the championship game, and are also ranked #24 in the country.

Tulsa will also be competing in the NCAA tournament as the only AAC representative, unfortunately. I was hoping Houston would some how make it in too, but I guess they had too many losses. We'll be in the the Norman regional as usual (OU hosting) and will face Arkansas to open up. We split with Arkansas this season.

It was a little odd that Tulsa was our only tournament team this year. I guess both of the Florida schools were down this season? I think we've gotten 2 teams in the tourney the last several years.

Will Tulsa hold their star pitcher Watson out of the first game with the Razorbacks to have her for the second round match up with likely Oklahoma? Risky.

Our new coach has turned us around quick. We've got a very young team, I think the vast majority of our players are freshmen and sophomores. We should be really good in a couple of years.

USF was predicted to do well but they got into a slump early in the season and could never climb out. Tulsa was in a horrible slump early as well but we came out with a vengeance.

I don't know. Maybe there's some one around here that could answer that question because I was wondering how they might navigate that as well. Watson was able to take OU to 10 innings earlier in the season until the Sooners finally scored to win 1-0.

That's good to hear! If we could get 3 or 4 teams clicking at once this can be a pretty good league!

Watson is one of the best pitchers in the country, but we are a little thin after her. I wouldn't be surprised to see her playing limited minutes in a game if we jump ahead early in order to save her strength.

Our resume':

Quality wins-
#25 Arkansas
#12 LSU
#19 Cal
OSU (twice)
Texas Tech
Syracuse
Kansas

Quality Losses
#21 Baylor
#10 Arizona
#9 Oklahoma (1-0 in ten innings in Norman)

TU has now won the AAC tournament twice in a row and the regular season this year as well. We are presently ranked #24. Our outstanding pitcher, Emily Watson, is a junior and will return for 2017-18. The main losses to graduation are the Withee sisters, so we should be strong again next season. I'll be disappointed if we aren't ranked next year early on.

I, honestly, think we are a top 15 team on verge of top 10 but we hit a slump early on and had to climb rankings to get where we are. We are better than the #24 ranking next to our name.

It always seems one of the hardest teams for us to beat is WSU. But once again their chances were hijacked by a poor MVC conference schedule. So now we can add them to the mix of up and comers in the AAC.

BTW, IMO John Bargfeldt is one of the best coaches in the country. Hope we can hang on to him. And Crissy Strimple (in her 10th year) is a quality asst coach and the heir apparent.

That HR was hit by Hailey Meinen (a native of Houston) who (I believe) is actually a transfer FROM Arkansas. Revenge is best served "cold". She will remember that one for the rest of her life.

That's a tough call. It might be best if another girl starts and Watson comes in IF/when needed. I think JB played it this way because our tradional record in the regionals needs to improve. Coaches have to "project" in their minds what they need to do to get to that next level. I just bet he thinks he can get some innings out of Watson in the next game.

Best thing today was we got the complete game in. Really great game!04-cheers04-rock02-13-banana I'm pretty sure the OU/OSU baseball game got cancelled tonite at OneOK.

I heard it did. It was lightning and raining like crazy. Got pretty soaked myself running across a parking lot to the truck.

RE: AAC Softball 2017
TU just beat NDSU as reported by the ESPN ribbon. OU plays the elimination game at 8pm (CST) vs ARK. The winner will play TU and if TU wins that game, the regional is over and TU is regional champ.

If the TU women get into the CWS, lets get a group of fans and just WALK to OKC!----- Just kidding. Man, if we end up in the CWS, we need to jive up the fanbase and buy up bunches of tickets! I swear I will buy tickets for some of my friends in town and give them a ride to the games if they promise to root for TU.

But again, we have to win and get to that point.

ESPN had announced they would carry the entire game today, but now they cut it off and are showing their alltime favorite program - guess who? That school that starts with an "A" and ends with an "A" and has two more "A"s in it.

Hint: They go by "bama" for short.

Oklahoma just repeated as National Champions. Tulsa was 3 outs from eliminating them 2 weeks ago. Wow.
