(05-15-2017 10:19 PM)georgia_tech_swagger Wrote:  Brad Nessler used to call games on the GT Radio Network. He coined the name "The Thrillerdome". Bring him in.

In 1980 Brad Nessler was a young, unknown radio announcer in Minnesota when he received an offer from WGST in Atlanta to come south and work in sports full time.

The graduate of Minnesota State-Mankato decided quickly that he loved the South.

“I drove down and never drove back,” said Nessler, who has lived in the same house in the Atlanta suburb of Duluth for 32 years.

Nessler already has had a hall of fame broadcasting career. But when we talked Wednesday, he didn’t hide his excitement over the official news that in 2017 he’ll become the play-by-play voice for “The SEC on CBS.”

The ACC can forget Nessler.

Man, Mark May is brutal. I want to say no way, but who knows...sometimes hatred is the best way to get eyeballs, but I just wouldn't want to see it.

I like the idea of Wes Durham being the central anchor like Fowler/Reece. The guy knows his ACC, is super professional, and is actually pretty funny with a lot of personality. He has kind of a professional veneer, you have to listen to him a lot to pick up on his personality, but he's great.

I'd like to see Mark Packer as the Finebaum analog.

In general, I'd like to see the personality of the ACC Network be a little less self-serious "this is important business" than the B1G, and less mouth-breathing volume than the SEC. Have a bit of humor about sports and itself.

If the BTN is Bob Ley, and the SECN is Chris Berman, I'd like the ACC Network to be more Scott Van Pelt or Craig Kilbourne.

Dave Pasch...if anyone can work with various buffoons...it is him. He would make a good mainline ACC guy.

I'd also tap some of the home grown talent that has been on ACC Gridiron Live on Fox Sports South. Jenn Hildreth. Roddy Jones. Jim Grobe. Alge Crumpler.

Well ... there is zero chance this would happen, but ... since we're sorta dreaming here ...

If we could snag Gus Johnson away from Fox or wherever the hell he went to, for ACC hoops, that'd be a win ...

I don't think he has any ties to the ACC anywhere, but he makes the game more exciting.

Get The Rock, former Miami football player. He's great with a mic & he could use it to launch his presidential run in 2020.

Provided that he is still kicking, bring back Doc Walker from the old Raycom broadcasts. He was the GOAT color analyst.

Get some Legitimate Cyborg Werewolf action along with some extra pepper in the grits.

And renegotiating the OB has to be worth another ~$12.5+ million, plus the B1G/SEC would be making a good chunk ($12.5 - $20 million less 2/3 years). That's another ~1-2 million per school in gap closure.
