Troy @ Liberty in 2018?
The Liberty page is rumbling that their 3rd fbs home game next year will be Troy. Any Trojans heard this? Their schedule will be released Saturday so we should know for sure. Thoughts about going to Lynchburg?

According to FBSchedules, Troy has a full non-conference schedule in 2018,

09/01 - Boise State
09/08 - Presbyterian
09/15 - at Nebraska
11/03 - at UMass

Unless someone is dropping out of the 2018 schedule, then this won't happen.

Troy playing @ Liberty wouldn't matter to me. They're going to be full FBS by then. Besides... North Texas, New Mexico State, and New Mexico are already in line to play at Liberty...

Troy's motto for many years was "anyone, anywhere, anytime"... that still stands true, even if it's Liberty.

Any possibility that you are losing UMass? I could see you guys quickly covering there if it happened, and I don't see you sacrificing a home game to play a reclassifying FCS.

I can't see the money or recognition lost through not being on TV being better than the opposite of playing at Nebraska

The only mention of Troy's future opponents that I've heard didn't have a date and Liberty was not one of them.

Could be some sort of swap worked out. With UMASS and Liberty both now Independent they could be working together to help each other fill out thier schedules.

And Liberty's got some money to throw around. I can't imagine Troy would care about playing UMASS vs. Liberty

Not that big of a deal to me. That's probably the same reaction Kansas fans had when saw they were playing @ CCU in 2020.

Good teams like New Mexico and Old Dominion are playing at Liberty, as well as North Texas and New Mexico State... so we're not alone.

I think a lot of us are going to find ourselves traveling to Lynchburg over the next several years. There really aren't many, if any, G5 fans who should be all that surprised to end up with a road game at Liberty.

It's a football game. I imagine most protestant s would find more things to agree with Liberty than with Notre Dame religiously yet would be tickled to play the Irish. If you disagree with the young earth that Liberty teaches there are many things that Notre Dame teaches that I would disagree with more. Other things that Liberty teaches are not right I agree but slamming their QB into the turf would not contaminate your players I assure you.

BYU, Army, and UVA will play in Lynchburg as well. Fun times here at LU. We're excited and humbled to join the FBS ranks - we know it won't be easy - we just want to be there.

Cardinal Black, it's great to hear football smack rather than another endless, hijacked thread, that ends in an undefinable black hole. And LU fans are very excited as all other FCS teams where when they were in a very similar position.

I would rather lose to Troy as a fellow FBS member than win over Presbyterian as an FCS member. 98% here agree.

And no return game for Troy? That really sucks, I think. Maybe not, at least you only have to play them once lol
