Berry would never do this, but if we get a JSU or Alabama State as the #4, I would throw Nelms or someone like that. Save the weekend trio for the rest of the week. Would give us a huge advantage.

Be careful what you wish for...

Phillip Humber threw a perfect game in the MLB but lost to TSU.

And no offense to USM, but I don't think you guys have an '04 Rice type staff.

Yeah, but we can score 3 TDs in a baseball game :)

RE: UPDATED: 5/10 baseball standings/RPIs/remaining opponents/etc..
RPIs and games remaining as of 5/11/17:

RPI/Team/Overall record/CUSA record/remaining teams with OOC opponent's RPI in ()
**USM vs SE, and ODU vs Va Tech are neutral site games**

#17 USM (37-12, 19-5) --- UAB, vs Southeastern La (34), @UTSA
#42 ODU (33-15, 16-8) --- FIU, vs Virginia Tech (117), @FAU
#55 FAU (29-16-1, 15-9) --- @WKU, UCF (30), ODU
#76 Charlotte (27-20, 15-9) --- UTSA, @Winthrop (80), @Marshall
#103 UTSA (26-21, 13-11) --- @Charlotte, Baylor (19), USM
#39 LT (32-16, 13-11) --- Marshall, @MT
#105 Marshall (25-23, 12-12) --- @LT, Charlotte
#57 Rice (22-27, 12-12) --- MT, Texas St (187), @UAB
--------cutoff for CUSA tournament---------------
#77 FIU (27-23, 11-13) --- @ODU, WKU
#175 UAB (23-26, 8-16) --- @USM, Rice
#109 MT (21-27, 7-17) --- @Rice, @Vanderbilt (26), LT
#251 WKU (14-35, 4-20) --- FAU, @FIU

USM has clinched a spot in CUSA tournament
WKU has been eliminated
USM can clinch either a tie or outright regular season championship this weekend. A sweep along with at least 1 ODU loss would be outright while a USM sweep and an ODU sweep would be a share at worst.

AS OF 5/14/17

RPI/Team/Overall record/CUSA record/remaining teams with OOC opponent's RPI in ()
**USM vs SE, ODU vs Va Tech are neutral site games**

Clinched CUSA tournament berth
#16 USM (40-12, 22-5) --- vs Southeastern La (27), @UTSA
#41 ODU (35-16, 18-9) --- vs Virginia Tech (114), @FAU
#34 LT (35-16, 16-11) --- @MT
#71 FAU (30-18-1, 16-11) --- UCF (25), ODU
Still up in the air
#92 UTSA (28-22, 15-12) --- Baylor (13), USM
#84 Charlotte (28-22, 15-12) --- @Winthrop (83), @Marshall
#60 Rice (24-28, 14-13) --- Texas St (183), @UAB
#73 FIU (28-25, 12-15) --- WKU
---------cutoff for CUSA tournament--------
#105 Marshall (25-26, 12-15) --- Charlotte
Eliminated from CUSA tournament berth
#116 MT (22-29, 8-19) --- @Vanderbilt (21), LT
#172 UAB (23-29, 8-19) --- Rice
#239 WKU (16-36, 6-21) --- @FIU

LT owns tiebreaker over FAU due to better record vs ODU
UTSA beat Charlotte 2-1
FIU beat Marshall 2-1
MT beat UAB 3-0

1 week left in the regular season and current 1 through 8 seeds are all in top 100 RPI with #9 Marshall on the cusp as well as MT could get there but would need to win out to finish its season. Should Marshall win at least 2 vs Charlotte they should be top 100

7 OOC games on Tuesday with 4 of those against teams in top 27 while the other 3 are 83, 114 and 183

Their hot streaks were against weaker teams for the most part. The competition has picked up recently but here's some of their series this year in no particular order:

ECU - lost 2 of 3
ODU - lost 2 of 3
FAU - lost 2 of 3
Rice - lost all 3
UTSA - lost 2 of 3
La Tech - won 2 of 3 during LT's rough CUSA start
WKU - won all 3
Middle Tennessee - won all 3
UAB - won 2 of 3

They do have some of the better wins OOC for CUSA but struggled lately.
(20) WVU - won 2 of 3
(9) Wake Forest - won 1 and lost 1

Our pitching wasn't very deep to begin with this year. Our starters were excellent this season and had carried us up until the past 2 weeks and I feel like we've hit a wall. Just as our Sunday starter was finding a groove, he was lost for the year with an elbow injury vs MTSU. Our ace had a shoulder issue that forced him out against Rice after only 2 IP. Our Saturday starter has struggled so we moved him to the pen and brought our closer in to start this past Saturday.

Hopefully now that school is out, we can get re-focused and make a late season push.

If FAU beats UCF and takes 2/3 vs. ODU...does this put them in T50 RPI and does this knock ODU out of the T50 RPI?

You definitely have to put a disclaimer on that loss because they had Rickie Weeks. Not any SWAC team.

Dewon Day was their starting pitcher and he pitched in AAA (edit: Actually in MLB briefly but had arm troubles).

Weeks basically broke Ray Antonelli--this little lefty reliever who was great for us that year. He hit a go-ahead bomb off of him. Kid had Rick Ankiel Disorder when we tried to bring him later in the Regional and never recovered.

Simple for Marshall - must win one more this weekend against Charlotte than FIU wins at home vs. WKU. Longshot, but that is it in a nutshell. FIU won 2-of-3 vs. MU. BTW, LA Tech was the first team to take all three this year from MU, at worst possible time.

Actually Marshall still controls its own destiny. Yes you get in if you win more than FIU. But 3-0 clinches a spot for Marshall. Because that would be at least a 3-way tie if FIU also finishes 3-0.
In that 3-way tie Charlotte would be odd-team out. Same is true even if Rice or UTSA end up tied at 15-15 as well.

I added the Wolfpack to the list. When we beat them they were ranked in the Top Ten.
