RE: Article about CUSA TV (Sinclair buying Tribune)
We know that there are several schools that wanted to move up to FBS status. Jacksonville State, Eastern Kentucky, Northern Iowa, Stony Brook, Lamar, Sam Houston State, James Madison, North Alabama, Youngstown State etc. Having the schools move up to FBS as Independents, but more like a Notre Dame type deals might help with tickets being sold.

Jacksonville State and North Alabama could play H/H with UAB, Troy and South Alabama. Fans from both schools could travel to the games that way.
Chattanooga might do the same as well with Middle Tennessee State, North Alabama, Jacksonville State and some others.
Northern Iowa already plays Iowa and Iowa State every year. They could schedule Minnesota and Nebraska as an Independent, and Missouri State might come up as well. Missouri State is not that far from Arkansas State, Little Rock and UCA to play bowl with.

That might be the only way to get the stadiums filled if there are more close by opponents which would bring the fans of the opposition to spend money in the communities.

No David, northern Iowa doesn't play Iowa and Iowa St every year. Iowa rarely played them in football in the past and won't play them anymore. Iowa St would play UNI every few years (and lose). Iowa and Iowa St no longer play road games vs UNI in basketball either.

Now Stadium Sports (ASN successor) gives me a call telling me they're still interested in C-USA. Came a little late in the game, but ...

So now both BEIN and ASN have refuted what the writer said originally, based on his sources. Sound a bit like irresponsible reporting to me. Why wouldn't he confirm his story with the actual media first?

Journalism aint what it used to be. That's good news for CUSA. One would think STADIUM is going to be a better platform than ASN.

Sounds like it.
The multi-merger with Silver Chalice(Campus Insiders) and 120 Sports will pool resources and talent and money to make the new venture very successful.
Then adding Tribune's TV stations to the mix and they could make a offer to the MW. It would be better than the Root package we currently have.

Im fairly sure CUSA could still make $200K (probably more) per school as a regional conference with a region TV deal. If that's all the TV money that's going to be there on a national level, then the whole reason for being in a conference with teams spread across half a continent is pretty much eliminated.
Though as repeatedly mentioned already, most of the TV money for Go5 schools is CFP money ... suggesting that the timing for realignment along those lines could well line up with the next CFP negotiating period, when the new conferences could take a seat at the table.
