That's all the more reason not to make baseball a requirement for entry. No need to put pressure on schools to throw together a half-arsed baseball program that will cause us to get farther from a round-robin schedule and will bring the conference RPI down.

While I think UTC may have missed their window, I think if SB went to 12 Football, JMU would be the other team. I actually think offering them Football Only may not be a bad idea get to 12 teams and add to very good regional teams. However, I doubt the 10 teams will be willing to share CFP money.

we told you guys last time around that we would do FB only. But you all said no.

Which was understandable at the time. You needed another all-sports member.

I'm sure if it came back up again, we would accept a FB only invite.

Football only is not happening.

Nor is the SBC invite #2.

03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao Neither Georgia State nor Georgia Tech own their home city market, combined even. Atlanta is mostly owned by ThUGA, then Alabama, UT, and the rest of the SEC.

If we are looking at facilities, Jax St wins over UTC. G5 football stadium, basketball arena recently renovated, and made the big dance this year, and the baseball stadium is being completely rebuilt right now.

I really wouldn't mind either school if the situation warranted it.

In the mean time, I prefer USM!!!

Why talk to Chattanooga?
First. Go to Hattiesburg and visit. Go to ODU. Go to Marshall. Go to UAB. Go to Charlotte.

Do I think anyone bites? No I don't but I'd still talk to everyone East of La Tech that isn't a recent Sun Belt defector.

I don't expect any easier time with our next tv deal than they are having. At least get some dialog going and maybe we can help our chances with a joint tv deal after ours expires. But if someone bites we might be very happy with the outcome.

We need 10 for a CCG then we stay at 10 unless you like getting less TV money and playoff money. The Sun Belt has zero incentive to add teams, now swapping that is a different story.

Before UWF, Catawba, Newberry College, and the Spartanburg School for the Deaf and the Blind?

Aren't you skipping over these key candidates too hastily?

Kennesaw State is a joke in the Atlanta area. Many folks there looks down on Kennesaw State as a school.

Why that is, I don't know. Academics maybe?

I wish we could add FGCU in basketball only. Won't happen, but it would be a big add for basketball.

They are really creating a brand name for themselves in Florida and around the nation. Their attendance average was 4,025 per game this season. Heck, they're attendance average is better than WKU's, which says a lot.

I did not skip, Kennesaw State is first on the list. Then UWF and FGCU

I'll let you represent Catawba, Newberry College, and the Spartanburg School for the Deaf and the Blind. 04-cheers

You can add UNCC to that list. Heck, they may be as far down as 10th.

Kennesaw State is a commuter school for the north Atlanta suburb kids that don't want to go to Georgia State. They don't have much going on up there besides a fresh out the gate football program and a sometimes decent baseball team.

Academics are pretty average. Good enough to get students to go there but not good enough to be all that competitive in the state/region.

RE: UTC and the Sun Belt eyeing each other?
It's pretty clear chasing TV money is a futile effort at the G5 level. The conference needs to focus on putting together two strong divisions where travel isn't going to destroy budgets. Where fans can travel to games without getting on a plane and there are enough teams in each division to get an actual division champ. You know, kind of how it used to be. Perhaps I look at this a bit differently since App wasn't around when the SB was jilted by some folks. But those guys were just doing what they thought was best. IMO about the only thing they can be chastised for is being gullible enough to believe every word that came out of Banowsky's mouth. Even so I'm not so sure everyone else in the cconference wouldn't have jumped at the chance too. I just think its time to put hurt feelings and egos aside an do whats right for our schools.

Not trying to stir anything up it just an honest question. How is GS any better academically? Both are tier two national universities according to us news.

I work some in the Alpharetta, Marietta, Norcross, Kennesaw, and Cumberland areas. I haven't come across a single person that has said anything good about Kennesaw State yet. They instead say great things about GT and GSU.

If they have that reputation in the ATL area, I wouldn't want them in the Sun Belt. Wouldn't happen anyway... Georgia Southern and Georgia State would be highly against it.

The only distinction between a national and regional university in US News eyes is whether or not the school offers Doctoral prgrams. US News bases their rankings on The Carnegie Institute classification method. CI defines them as Doctoral Universities and US News uses the National University term. The classification actually has nothing to do with the academic reputation / standing of the school.
