RE: Big News???
2018 game at Michigan - been there, done that.

And Ohio State, Notre Dame, Nebraska, (after this season) USC...

Just another blood money game as in paying for the sports that hemorrhage it.

Great experience for kids to play in The Big Hole perhaps.

But still prefer playing P5s we have a legitimate shot at beating, like last season.

Agreed!

Teams such as Northwestern, Illinois, Purdue, Indiana, the weaker ACC and Big 12 teams give you a change to win. This type of scheduling does not. The walmart wolverines on campus will be happy 03-puke
Not happy with this scheduling.

RE: Big News???
I think this is great news. We don't have to win every game for me to be happy though. And I wouldn't say it's impossible for us to win, either. It seems like we will complain if Michigan never schedules us, and if they do schedule us, we will find a way to complain about that. We fans can be quirky, I guess. I think this is great for the players and the team, so therefore it's great for me as a fan. And if it is only for the money, then I'm OK with that too.
Play the fight song.

Yeah, if we're going to be playing these sorts of games, $1.2 million doesn't hurt.

RE: Big News???
No desire to sit in Ann Arbor surrounded by Walmarters for that one.

So that leaves one more FBS open slot next year. We have Georgia State, UM, and to-be-determined FCS thus far. On paper, oughta be a probable 2-1 among that trio.

Figure among 4 OOC games, at least one will be a moneymaker buzzsaw game. Question becomes if we add another.

For context, NIU plays all 4 games against mid to high level P5s in 2018.

RE: Big News???
would be in favor of scheduling 2 games like this per year if it guaranteed no mid-week games

While Michigan Stadium is possibly the most uncomfortable and overrated collegiate athletic venue (for any sport), I don't mind the Broncos playing there periodically.

Frankly, WMU has a better chance to beat Michigan than USC.

And if, IF, WMU ever did beat Michigan...I would have a chubby for the entire year.

Last time we played in Ann Arbor, the game was suspended due to lightening. The Broncos were competitive, but some untimely turnovers put a good game quickly out of reach.

Michigan is good, but it is not THAT good (horribly overrated last season). WMU has a better chance to beat the dirty Wolverines than many Pig10 teams do. An upset is not improbable.

I wouldn't be surprised if we started to see the home and homes for hockey again now that Red is out.

RE: Big News???
Considering where our program is at now, I am totally fine with this and actually like it.

Bring on MSU, Michigan, OSU, etc... we are competing with the top dogs now. We just pushed a Top 10 (Big Ten) team to the brink at the Cotton Bowl.

How great would it be to go in there and beat scUM, AND walk away with $1.2 million in the process. Nothing more sweet.

Beating Purdue and Illinois is 03-yawn now. We're beyond that. Doesn't do anything special for us anymore IMO.

For the record, I don't believe we've ever actually beaten Purdue, but I do agree with your point.

RE: Big News???
Let's not get carried away. We've had ONE 10+ win season and Top 25 ranking in our history, win MACC about every 20 years or so.

For example Miami was 13-1 in 2003, ranked 10th, lost their coach to Big Ten, and has had two winning seasons since.

Geez guys, sack up. It's not like scum has been some dominant force the last couple of decades. Just playing another BIG team that finished third in its division last year.

RE: Big News???
I would love to think WMU would maintain its present status. But U Mass basketball never got back there after Calipari left. Thought the 30/30 on Calipari (you tube it if you can) was very much like Fleck. While Lester was great as a player and is a very cool hire, I can't help but think in the next few years Western will maintain itself as one of the top teams in the Conference (one of them), but not like last year. Seems to me the recruits being signed lately, are good, but WMU is beating out fellow MAC schools, not Big 10 schools. Again, not following it all closely, but if WMU returns to 8-5 7-5 6-6 type seasons, it will not shock me.

U-M finished 10-3 the past 2 years. Last year they outscored opponents 524-183. Their 3 losses in 2016 were by a combined 5 points. Their recruiting classes have finished around the top 5 in the nation the past 2 years, and they also recruited well under Hoke. They had 11 draft picks this year, 6 in the first 3 rounds, and those were Hoke recruits. They have rapidly improved under Harbaugh. They are a force to be reckoned with and you are a fool if you think that is not the case.

This is a blood money game, which we should all be used to at this point. If the remaining FBS non-con game for 2018 is a low level P5 or decent G5, then I will be okay with this.
