I knew an attorney at a big firm downtown who used to take work in with him and would bill his time while multitasking.

You'd be surprised. I wasn't hired for a teaching/coaching job this year and they flat out told me it was weight related.

I'm glad you posted. It's totally plausible that obesity is a negative factor in the hiring process.

With regards to the claim that smoking enhances productivity, I got a chuckle out of that. I'd love to see that study.

Hmmm....I would think the liberal in you would rail against discrimination here....I guess discrimination is OK if you violate government edicts regarding your lifestyle?

I wish the conservative in you would come up with a coherent argument.

Discrimination? Bahahaha. The discussion went beyond government to private corporations who obviously feel smokers are a drain on the bottom line. Ain't nothing liberal about that!

...and they're a drain on the bottom line because of...wait for it...the ACA!! The ultimate in government regs to shape your behavior.

Ball's back in your court lefty...

It's a cost-based decision. Can't get more conservative than that.

You could very well be right. I'm interested in the day when you start paying more for not exercising, having a high BMI, being high stress, being single, anything that can affect your perceived higher average of healthiness. And if you don't think that's coming....

That day is already here. Our company requires you to take a biometric exam every year. If you don't pass three out of the four metrics (glucose, blood pressure, and two others which escape me) you have to pay a higher premium.
