I wanted Pastner gone and he is still gone, so I am all-in. I want to see what Tubby can do with the team he just recruited.

The Grizzlies are still selling tickets for those who want to jump ship. And, I assume that the Black Bears need to fill that new arena too. If you want to bail out, we'll see you later, alligator.

How does that ditty go?

Na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na, Hey Hey Goodbye.

You better save that money for 2018 football expenses.

RE: Please Consider Retaining Your Season Tickets
I'll be buying both Football and Basketball Season tickets this year. I'm finishing up my Master's degree in the Fall, so I'll again miss some games. But I'm definitely excited for the next season especially in football. I think our basketball will be about the same, maybe a couple games worst.

I'm more upset about the football schedule, with the crazy amount of Thursday games.

RE: Please Consider Retaining Your Season Tickets
When they went to per seat they set the price based on the 06 - 09 performance, but that means people have 06-09 expectations.

When we moved into the forum I donated 2500 and got the ability to buy 6 seats on the club level. They now want 6300 in donations for the same six seats, makes them much harder to keep. If I could drop the donation to 2500 I'd keep them without a second thought.

I bought season tickets in the "chairback section" on the front row. IMO, it is the best entertainment bargain in Memphis. I cannot usually attend Thursday games (I work in Nashville), but I will give away my tickets to relatives. I plan to retire in time for the start of the 2018 season and look forward to watching most of the games in person.

I'm just going to Uber from work for all the Thursday night games, got to love working in East Memphis. The hard part isn't exactly getting to the game on Thursday. It's getting home at 12.

That's not going to happen under Tubby. So I'll just plan on taking the kiddos to the zoo or children's museum instead of the game as long as Tubby is here. Better use of my time.

Fuente won 3 games his 1st season. Do you want to be taken seriously, or are you intentionally irrationally jaw-boning?

He won 4 games his first season. All against FBS opponents, which was two more wins against FBS opponents than we'd had in the prior 3 seasons (Last year of Tommy West [UTEP], and two seasons of Porter [Tulane in 2011]).

When Fuente took a team that couldn't beat an FCS team to start the year and rattled off three straight wins to end the year, that's when I figured he'd earned the benefit of the doubt.

RE: Please Consider Retaining Your Season Tickets
I'm not renewing for the first time in seven years. I honestly wasn't going to renew last year but then when they got rid of Josh I bought back in. There's just nothing to get excited about this season. I know the university depends on this money but when I received the phone call to renew I just told him as soon as the price reflects the product I'll be back in. Funny thing was is he gave me absolutely no push back and never asked me to buy basketball tickets again, while I receive a call every other week to buy football tickets. The apathy surrounding the basketball program is rampant.

Since Memphis is no longer the program it was 10 years ago I assume ticket prices will be reduced to meet the expectations now in place? If so I may reconsider renewing. Until then I will take my chances with the $5 dudes.

Yep, and why are we paying a coach more money now than we did 10 years ago?

Basketball tickets will be "adjusted". I assume it means a price cut.

Good times....great memories.

Tubby Smith Outcoaches his MN Gophers Past Josh Pastner's #19 Memphis Tigers

Josh Pastner's Tigers fall for the second consecutive game, and may find a corresponding rankings drop waiting as a result.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers upset the No. 19 Memphis Tigers 84-75 Friday in the Battle 4 Atlantis consolation bracket in Nassau, Bahamas.

Minnesota (5-1) benefited from a tremendous game from sophomore Andre Hollins, who went off for a staggering 41 points against Memphis (2-2). Hollins was 12-of-16 in shooting from the floor, and went a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc. He also knocked down 12-of-13 free-throw attempts, and scored the last nine points for the Golden Gophers.

Memphis led late on a three-pointer from D.J. Stephens with a little over six minutes remaining, but Minnesota went on a 17-7 run to close the game and down the Tigers.

Coach Josh Pastner got double-digit points out of three Tigers in the game, but Memphis fell for the second consecutive outing.

Minnesota has another tough game coming up on Tuesday, when they hit the road to face the Florida St. Seminoles. Memphis returns home to take on the University of Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks on Thursday.

When I was going back over the data for Tubby's record against top 25 teams, I noticed he was 2-1 versus the Tigers over his career (unless I missed any). Surprisingly, he won at Minny and at Georgia - probably upsets in both games - but lost while at UK. FWIW

One of the more informative columns Calkins has ever written. Zero spin. (I know he's a columnist, but still.)

I guess we discussed some of that back when it came out. I remember discussing the home basketball schedule. But I don't recall discussing pricing, or egress - or a definitive statement that they will look to get out of the 18 home game guarantee.

Next season will probably be rough under Tubby, a losing record likely, and little sign of material future improvement evident. It is tempting to skip the season. However, the need for Tiger fan support is more acute now than it has been since at least the Tic Price hire.

I invite all Tiger fans to join me and renew your season tickets. Let's show Tubby there is no resource problem concerning fan support.

I'm renewing mine. Do you really believe we will have a losing season? If so can we make a bet? I'm serious. I highly doubt we have a losing season.

I will be happy to make a bet under the condition that the money goes to the TSF. I want to lose and proceeds going to the TSF is a win-win situation. Name the amount and if I can afford it you have a deal.

$100

Ok. I propose a Gentlemam's Agreement that the losing party notify the winner by PM of the donation upon end of the season.

witness?
