It took Martin awhile to get it going at SC because he is a coach.

Martin didn't have much of a choice in the way he did it. Pretty sure Martin would've loved to 'handle' some Lawsons and their daddy. lol
He would have punched someone, he's a little too close to BK for me but he can coach.

Ahhh....who knew. He's a Sinatra fan. 'My Way', he likes that one a lot.

Good point. Josh was coddled while Tubby is blasted. It's bizarre.

Frank Martin at SCar
2012-13...14-18
2013-14...14-20
2014-15...17-16
2015-16...25-9
2016-17...26-11
He would have been fired by the message board if he had that record at Memphis.

Their next move/play/post will be South Carolina isn't a basketball school and their fans don't care. But I agree with you.

This is a really poor reply. If you think a fan that complains needs to find another team you will have the arena all to yourself quicker than you think. The coaches, in essence, work for us, the fans. There would be no team without fans. Just like any other business. Without customers, there would be no business. Customers complain. And, you know what, the customer is always right.

Pulling against the rope isn't going to ever help. He is in year two. Year two. That's year two. So if you are interested in the Tigers thriving you may want to get behind him and the program. If he doesn't there will be plenty of time to protest and get a mob to rush the offices. I'll be up front. But at this juncture it's prudent to wait and see by giving him a fair shake/chance.

He is an unbelievably experienced coach, by far the most years coaching D1 than any other coach we've hired. He acts as if he doesn't even care, and says things that make you think he's not even trying. I wish I had employers who would let me act like him for a couple of years before anything above mediocre was expected.

His comments don't bother me but in the least. I'll be in my seat next season giving him and the players my support and a fair shake. I can't make you do that. I'm going to pull hard for them and if he shows he can win lots of people are going to have to eat crow.

People are falling all over themselves to defend Tubby. Why I don't know. He's done nothing for Memphis thus far except bring us our biggest margin of defeat in 50 years and run off all the talent.

Say what you want about Josh Pastner, and I've said a lot of it.

I never questioned the guy was trying his hardest and best to win.

I absolutely do not think Tubby is putting in that level of effort.

Pastner also at least tried to sell the program and university. Tubby isn't.

Pastner did things for the community and fan outreach. I've not heard any stories of Tubby doing the same.

Tubby is just taking the money and not trying and not giving anything back to community. So screw him he's going to get heat even if it's only year two.

Pastner absolutely sucked and he did run the program into the groin. No question. We needed to fire him a year before we did.

Having said that, Pastner gave effort. I don't see that from Tubby. I saw where Pastner was going and knew he had to go. I see the same thing from Tubby. I'm sorry you don't want to acknowledge it yet. You will in a year or two.

I'm at least waiting. Which is more than you are doing. What may happen is you eating the heck out of crow. The question is will you acknowledge you were wrong? Because I don't and won't have to acknowledge I'm wrong. I never said he was going to do this or that. I said I'm waiting to see before I judge. I want hard facts of losses in front of me prior to ripping him. I'm not aftraid to rip a coach. I ripped josh from my seat almost every night. By year five everyone around came up and said you were right about josh.

I'm not sure the OP was saying this bothered him, was he? Did I miss something? I think it's an interesting comparison, actually.

It's that simple...period! If you're not going to support the program, there's no reason to gripe, complain, stalk the coaching staff, or whatever!!

I agree. The debate starts when we discuss who meets those qualifications - that we could realistically hire. Got suggestions for us to pick apart?

I would suggest Frank Martin but he would have already been fired. Hell, even Pearl would have been fired by now. Of course he would have had a couple of star-ed players, that would make some on here warm and fuzzy in lieu of winning?

They miss bragging about not getting beyond the first round of the tourney, to not getting in the tourney, or not even qualifying to be invited to the NIT. The miserables want to be recognized; they DON'T care about WINNING! Tubby's not going to dance to their freaking music and they can't stand it. Go Tigers!

Yes, year two and he has blown it with his first full recruiting class after not getting anyone that offered long term help last year. I was interested to find out when Tubby would start recruiting players that are more highly ranked and he just told everyone that the answer is never and the problem is apparently NOT Tubby. The problem is apparently Memphis.

I guess we don't have the facilities and the brand that is worthy of recruits in the top 100. I guess there are 100 programs in the country with better facilities and a better brand than us.
