jorts.
Isn't that the official uniform of heels fans?
I'm happy for you guys. Your temporary misery has been restored by the announcement of the tipoff dinner speaker. Hopefully next week the video coordinator will resign and we can go restore talk of the purge.
VC and DOBO are already gone.
It was a joke.

You don't have to like it but if it raises money it is good thing. Roy is not coming here to tell UNCW how to run the program but tell a few stories, get some laughs, play golf and hangout at his beach house. The hate for a guy or a program that is so good is pretty childish. Same thing with Duke and Coach K-it really makes no sense. Kentucky and Cal would be the one case I think people could have a legit reason to say the guy is just not someone you want to have your kids around.
Either way-I am not going to this event.

The reluctance has zero to do with my dislike for UNC, I'd feel the same about any other major coach in close proximity. We spent hours on here talking about separating our brand, differentiating ourselves from the other NC schools, IMO things like this will only hurt that as we will further cement our standing as "little brother". At least the perception from outside folks anyways.

The best way to build your brand is to win games. Being two hours from Chapel Hill isn't holding us back. Having coaches from UNC isn't hurting our reputation. The fact that another assistant from a national championship team sought out the job is a positive. Keatts got us back on track where we expect to compete for conference championships. We have earned respect within the CAA. If we win tournament games, we'll begin to garner respect outside of the region and conference.

How many mid major schools out there do you think would LOVE to have our proximity to UNC, ability to bring in coaching from UNC, and ability to have a currently coaching HOFer at their kick-off dinner?
Sure, there's negative to things like this that make us feel like the "little brother". But think about how many schools out there would love to have that sort of connection to a championship pedigree.
Love it or hate it at times, it's a good thing being a basketball centric state.

You are all too short sighted.
Roy has a beach house here, he loves the area. When he has grown tired of the big stage at Carolina, he can come to the beach and coach at UNCW, much like Bobby Cremins did at CofC.
It's all a setup. Then, McGrath and Roy switch jobs.

I'd much rather have a Williams disciple than a Smith disciple. Roy's teams play hard, they defend, they play inside out, and they play fast. That's the ticket. Bigs will eventually come to a school that will give them a chance to go to work every now and again. You play fast and everybody will get their shots and will get some transition action. You may not sell the entire floor out, but you put more of an emphasis on getting half court stops. Yes, you can press but not all the time and possibly to actually turn somebody over instead of hoping for an uptempo style that trades hoops. I don't like trading.
Keatts was the BOMB. Don't get me wrong here. He got players that can play uptempo and win a bunch of games. Let's now advance in the Dance. It may or may not be this year, but y'all know why we lost in the end. We simply didn't get enough stops and it was always about out scoring somebody. That's how you lose close to Duke and UVa. You want to advance, get stops, but still score well.
Let's wait and see on all of this. Keatts was awesome for UNCW. It's a new day and a different approach. That approach just won it all and McGrath was a big part of getting those players and they weren't one and dones either. It works.
