I'm not over reacting to the short term.
Phuck Arkansas and their fear of academics.

RE: Basketball home & homes ...
I wish we'd play more P5 teams outside the SEC. We know we can get them on the schedule. We've done it forever.d Getting UCLA was a nice surprise, but I wish we could get more games like that. By now, we've play the PAC 12 teams in a total of two games. I'd put Louisville on as a permanent opponent. If we had to schedule any non-P5 team, I'd put Southern Miss on the schedule. The Black and Blue series was a great rivalry.

I'm all for it, given where the program is today.
Been there, done that, what's it gotten us? Kneeling at the rail of the almighty $EC and kissing their @ss in an effort to build our programs, yea, that's really worked out. They want to play us when we're down, but let us show just a glimmer of being competitive and they either say no, or back out of contracts. Even though our basketball program is currently down, in my opinion, we should never have to kiss an $ec teams @ss to play us in that particular sport, never. Anyone notice, now that we're finally good in football, how many $ec teams are knocking down our door to play us, none, zilch, zero. Broken contracts are part of their DNA. Beat em, or be competitive with them, their favorite by (buy) word is, see ya. This is just my opinion, agree with me, fine, if not fine also. GO TIGERS!
"What's it gotten us?" You mean other than some of the best basketball games ever played in Memphis? Well, outside of that, I don't even care. I want some great basketball back in Memphis.
Outside of #1 vs #2, please enlighten me. Some of the best basketball games I've ever seen here in Memphis didn't include an $ec team.
You must not remember the Todd Day vs Penny Hardaway game, those immediately before and after either. But I have been a Memphis fan for a very long time and I remember them vividly.
I've also been a Memphis fan a long time, going back to the early 70's in the Larry Finch era (I do remember Moe Iba though). Now, if you've been watching Tiger basketball prior to the early 70's congrats, it just proves that you're older than me, again, congrats.

A few thoughts and reactions:
- Agreeing to play home and home bball with these teams is NOT bowing down to them or the SEC. It is putting a good/ very good p5 opponent on our schedule.
- It is an error to undervalue the brand and status of Memphis bball. ( 3 final fours and play in a modern NBA arena).
- It is an error to underestimate the potential that M Andersen has in recruiting Memphis players. This should be a factor in this scheduling decision.

You do NOT give more exposure in your town to teams you are fighting against for talent.
These teams are already kicking our ass in recruiting so why do we help them.
Their fans chose to follow schools out of town. Not our business to provide home game for them.
This is why we should screw them by starting a home and home at their place then cancelling before they get a chance to come here

again, Miss State and Mizzou have given us home-home football contracts...we should return the favor and offer them home-home basketball contracts...not UT, AR, or Vandy

Possible for someone else on Arkansas staff to do the sane thing Edgar did? Your post jogged my memory.

We still haven't evened up the series with UT. Let's not renew the series when we're terrible.

For those who don't think scheduling has anything to do with recruiting: From Paul Biancardi tweet today:
Wichita State has offer Team Thad 2018 PG Tyler Harris and wing forward Roderick Brown, per Norton Hurd. @UAassociation
