Looks like these guys literally just found out. Most of these folks whose Twitter accounts I've looked at were reporting sports news as recently as two hours ago.

I don't see anyone on the list who will leave a hole in the network. Some good personality/reporters. but nothing earth shattering.

It increases the likelihood that the AAC becomes the first college football conference to sign a contract with a streaming service.

I like Ed Werder. But honestly they have way too many NFL guys.

I don't believe this is in the realm of possibility for the AAC.

You're likely correct, but I do believe we're within a year or so of seeing the first major contract with a sport/ conference and a streaming service.

I've been bamboozled for awhile at the folks over at the conference board who think we are gonna get a payraise come next TV contract. The quality of play and addition of Wichita certainly warrant it, however, ESPN simply cannot afford to pay "big bucks" to another conference.

The exodus of subscribers is only going to make it worse next time around.

I agree with Geef, I'm thinking we may be the first conference to go the full streaming service route in some form, i.e. Netflix, YouTube, Amazon, or Hulu. I'm not exactly well versed in contract negotiations however, so I could be spewing BS.

Me too...I continuously say on there that I'll be incredibly happy just to retain the value we have and I get yelled off the thread. They think we're getting $8M-$10M/team/year...no...03-lmfao

RE: ESPN to lay off 100 on-air personalities and writers
Surprised they got rid of LeBrun and Werder, but LeBrun has already been hired by TSN, and I'm guessing Werder will be getting a call by the NFL Network soon.

Ravech, Russilo and Hannah Storm are getting their roles significantly reduced too...seems like they're going after some big guns now. Can't exactly afford multi-million dollar guys who only appear for an hour a day on radio anymore.

I wonder if Andrea Adelson will get the boot as well... ESPN has to be losing money on a full time Louisville shill.

Or, simply people no longer buying cable subscriptions. ESPN is not an anomaly in this.
