An at-large is still is an outside shot, but I'd rather be bubble than where we are now.
You're taking at-large with a 117 RPI?
I highlighted the pertinent part.
What do you think would happen if UTA beat RPI #38, 36, 11 as well as take two of three from #50 and 66, couple with a sweep in two other conference series?
All of it is a stretch, I get it, but it would raise the RPI to respectable, and give UTA all the other things I mentioned.
And I'll do the same ... no chance for UTA to get an at-large, so move on.
And I guess you missed the part where I said wins over RPI #11 (road), 36(rd), 38(rd), 50 (home), 50(hm), 66(hm) and 66(hm) as well as potential six more road wins against middle of the pack road teams.
It's a long shot, I get it. But win those games and the RPI climbs into the 40's or 50's. Meaning your highlighted 117 doesn't mean anything, unless at-larges are awarded now.

GS takes both games against Baseball America #22 Mercer.
11-1 in midweek games, and 4-1 against Coastal and Mercer.

What about those six games against 187 & 167? UTA's RPI is not climbing to the 40s.

Six road wins? yeah, very much could IN CONJUNCTION WITH the other wins.
You do realize road wins have a 1.3 multiplier in the RPI ratings?

OMG NO WAY!!!! Six road wins against teams that could very well be below .500. Good luck with that 40-50 RPI thing bud; I'll be rooting for ya.

Joe Robbins, with the lucky kid who got the ball from his grand slam, after Joe signed it for him.

Even with those wins there is no chance your RPI climbs that high. Simply not enough games remaining.

Southern up to 70 in RPI. Hopefully we can stay hot for the rest of the regular season and get pretty far into the SB tourny. Would be nice to at least be close to getting an at large bid if we don't win the tournament.

And I have to say I am a bit both a jealous and kind of awe with him hitting the GS. It's a pretty rare event, so you have to realize how how pumped he is, and how that is something that he will probably remember for the rest of his life. He is a great young man and is a role model on/off the field.
BTW, when he comes up to bat someone from Section A yells his name, then the rest follow up with "YUUUUUM!" You know, like the red Robin jingle. lol

UTA's RPI rose 24 spots after the home sweep of Louisiana (they fell only 6). It would have risen more had the 11-3 Oklahoma road game been completed. It is not out of the realm of possibility that road sweeps (and their 1.3 wins for the RPI formula) of Arkansas State (186), Texas State (177), along with road wins against Texas (26), TCU (11) and a home series win against Coastal (64) would raise the RPI enough to be on the cusp.
Seven wins against ranked opponents and a 24-10 record since March began would be enough to warrant at-large consideration. That's a lot to accomplish, and quite frankly I don't know have fiath that they will do it, but I don't think it is impossible.

To be a mid-major and be secure you really need to be in the 30's. We were left out with a mid-40's RPI in the past. Just saying.

I get it realistically, but the SBC does have a good reputation in baseball and it is not unheard of to get multiple at-large bids. With all the accomplishments I listed on the resume, UTA would have been a good candidate. As it is, I think we are looking at 2014 all over again, where we needed 2-4 more OOC wins to get there.

We (I mean as a conference) just did not do that great in non-conference early in the season and even though the last two sets of midweek games were good, it won't be enough get us out of the hole.

Yes, but while we have a good reputation in baseball, the same NCAA Committee bias exists that does in basketball.
Simply put you have to do more to get an at large in the SBC than you do the Major Conferences.

Chief, I get what you are saying. However, the only knock on UTA is February. Due to that, the RPI is lower. But there is a lot the committee says it cares about: seven wins over ranked teams, a 14-5 (from memory) road record, on pace for a high finish in a top conference, hot streak to end the season, and now votes in a poll.
If UTA loses only two games the rest of the way and makes it to the SBC Finals, they will be hard pressed to ignore those credentials. Not saying it wont happen, or that UTA will do that, but pointing out the at-large chances are still there.
