Obama is a private citizen just like I am, am has no ability to "step in" to the business of the duly elected President of the United States.

He can write a letter or call his Critter, just like the rest of us.

Unfortunately, some think that he is still the President, or should be the President in his 3rd term.

Obama step over a red line??? Now that's funny.

Quote:Earlier today, former President Obama did what he does best and took the stage to lecture other people on the importance of leadership and personal responsibility. But don’t worry: He’s not looking to jump back into the political fray anytime soon. At least not according to his former press secretary and current MSNBC political analyst Josh Earnest.

As Earnest told Chris Jansing, Obama’s not going to get involved in politics again — unless it’s absolutely necessary:
_________________

Jansing: What do you think would motivate to get back involved in the public debate in a way he’s not willing to do right now?

Earnest:Well, Chris, after the last eight years, the president doesn’t relish the prospect of getting back into the day-to-day fights that characterize governing the United States of America in the 21st century. The president doesn’t have much interest in, you know, weighing in on the tax reform proposals that the Trump folks are promising to release later this week. He doesn’t have much of an interest in weighing in on what steps Republicans in Congress can take to keep the government open. He spent the last eight years doing it. It’s somebody else’s turn to do that now. I think what would motivate President Obama is if we saw the federal government start to cross some clear red lines in terms of long-observed norms and values that, frankly, I think that we’ve started to take for granted.

http://twitchy.com/sd-3133/2017/04/24/wh...out-obama/

Dude, Go cash in for the 400 grand you're going to pocket talking down to the "Wall Street Fat Cats" you bemoaned for eight years and leave us alone and without your tangential social engineering. You have done enough harm in your failed eight years, leave bad enough alone.

Thanks,

Not when it directly relates to policy or the state of affairs. Bush was brought up for the sake of reasonable comparison when speaking of the economy, wars and deficits, etc.

And I have no problem with anyone bringing up Obama now when making the same comparisons now.

But this is not one of them. This was an innocuous comment not even made by Obama...with him not doing anything even remotely resembling "stepping in" as of yet.

And do what? Overthrow the government? He's an ex president. George Bush has the same power. Obama better find a hobby because his political career is over.

Most likely just speak up/out about it. I think that's all Earnest is implying. Of course he has no more power now than the rest of us.

This is overblown. Past presidents rarely criticize sitting presidents, and when they do they usually wait a while after inauguration. Sounds like sour grapes otherwise. It's obvious that this is just a discussion of if/when/how President Obama might engage in the public debate. The only really interesting thing about this is Earnest's curious use of the "red line" expression. I would have thought a guy who was hired to be a thoughtful and careful speaker would have stayed away from that loaded turn of phrase considering President Obama's history with it.
