Fire Lebo now. There has to be a clause that lets ECU get out of paying Lebo's contract if he's fired for this specific reason. (Losing all the players). At least I've heard there's a a 5'10 video guy who shoots a mean jumper in horse. He'll start next season and be Lebo's go to guy.

The news on our basketball program just keep getting worse. What's next? It's embarrassing, when it seemed we had hit bottom and still the administration doesn't do anything to correct the situation.

East Carolina guard Elijah Hughes has announced he will transfer on Twitter.

Hughes dealt with an injury at the beginning of his freshman season before becoming one of the Pirates' primary contributors the rest of the year. The 6-foot-6 guard averaged 7.8 points per game.

Hughes joins Deng Riak as the second rising sophomore to leave the program this offseason.

Wow, simply wow and yet Lebo still has a job. At this point he must have some dirt on someone high up to be still here. Our basketball program should be kicked out of the conference if we continue with this clown as a head coach. Losing players left and right, can't schedule anyone to play us here or on the road which is amazing. And then blame the rest of the conference for our shortcomings give me a f'n break.

It only means ECU is guaranteed to be a lower-CUSA-level program for the foreseeable future. Is that what makes "the fans who matter(ones with deep pockets)" happy?

What exactly are they trying to do to the program? Kill it off? Become a FB only?

Yep. The little guy with his mean jumper and the water boy who can drain a 5 footer after practice are two of the guys coming in.

To those who matter at ECU, as long as basketball stays out of the way with no sanctions or trouble and is semi competitive all is good as we can focus sorely on football and baseball. Basketball is not expected to be a money maker or a legit contender at ECU.

Also Lebo played at UNC

This is sad to have to say, but the best thing that can happen long term is for Barkley and maybe even a few others to transfer. The program will never turn around as long as Lebo is in charge, but it's clear at this point until we actually fall to Stokes level abject disaster status the "leadership" won't bite the bullet and fire him. It's gonna actually have to hit rock bottom before it gets better, and Lebo has managed to hover just above the ocean floor.

Competitive with whom? We're competing with Grambling St. for recruits. Let's take a look at the marquee wins for ECU in the AAC

Cincy: Without their head coach
Memphis: No Nichols
UCONN: Down year; Team depleted by injuries
Temple x2: Down year; Injuries

ECU hasn't beat a marquee program in the AAC at full strength, Lebo's failure to keep and develop our best players should be enough to get him fired. Not to mention his failure to put together a competitive schedule, his poor record against the weak schedules he does put together, and the many comments he makes in interviews that cast a negative light on the program or the AAC.

I hate to say it but he's right as long as we are semi-competitive and not in glaring trouble with the NCAA or the law the true money people at ECU don't give a crap. I'm furious at Compher, but at the same time the true culprits of this mess are Walter Williams and the rest of the Greenville Mafia cronies.

Not to rain on the fire Lebo thread here because I think he needs to go as well. ECU isn't in position to fire Lebo because he's owed $2MM and we don't have the dough. Lebo will hold us to it. That's the reality of the situation and won't be cured until the number comes down. It's just a waste of time to comment continuously until that reality can be dealt with. It is what it is!!!!

You can fire Lebo, and bring in Perry as a bandage until Lebo's off the books. Perry isn't the answer long term but the players responded better with him at the helm.

The Pirates are going to have to pay that money to Lebo regardless.

It's gone.

Allowing Lebo have the reigns of the program too is compounding the damage... Unless you're ok with filling out the roster with SWAC talent.

ECU needs to fundraise to pay the salary of an AAC caliber coach.

Letting Lebo hold the program hostage will just drive more fans away and you'll lose at the gate anyway. I can only imagine what Michael Perry thinks of that crapshow.
