ECU isn't in position to fire Lebo because he's owed $2MM and we don't have the dough. Lebo will hold us to it. That's the reality of the situation and won't be cured until the number comes down. It's just a waste of time to comment continuously until that reality can be dealt with. It is what it is!!!!

The Pirates are going to have to pay that money to Lebo regardless.

It's gone.

Allowing Lebo have the reigns of the program too is compounding the damage... Unless you're ok with filling out the roster with SWAC talent.

ECU needs to fundraise to pay the salary of an AAC caliber coach.

Letting Lebo hold the program hostage will just drive more fans away and you'll lose at the gate anyway. I can only imagine what Michael Perry thinks of that crapshow.

I wish the mentality would change for ECU hoops. The indifference. If this was football? Lebo would have been run out of town no matter what the buy out was.

Dang, I really hate to read this because I really really like Hughes. But maybe what Bonds said is on the money and this is part of the castor oil required for a change. It was obvious night & day a better team under Perry.

This is fake news and not true.
The big donors can't stand Lebo
It's Compher who will not get rid of Lebo. A lot of the boosters wanted Lebo fired and Perry to be the coach for two years (just to lower the cost of getting rid of Lebo). Compher just want do it for some reason.

If that were true he'd be fired. The true money guys do not support or want to pay to fire Lebo, but they did want Ruffs head and got him out probably a year earlier than he deserved. Comphers taking his marching orders from Walter Williams and company, and they either like Lebo or don't hate him enough to want to pony up.

Once again not true you are just assuming. Compher can't fire Lebo because he has no money to fire him, in return this has pissed off the big donors, reason why Compher may not get a new extension.

They should have moved Lebo into another position within the athletic department and kept Perry as coach for this upcoming season. We are stuck with Lebo anyway because for some reason we can't raise 2 million to fire him so might as well move him to a different position I don't care make one up and go okay Perry you got one year lets so what you can do. What would be the worst that could happen, we are on the books anyway and the team is better with Perry give him a full season shot, if it don't work then go find a new coach. But if it did work hire Perry full time at the cheap and move forward.

Hopefully Barkley leaves and we go winless next season. That's the only way out of this nightmare.

It only means ECU is guaranteed to be a lower-CUSA-level program for the foreseeable future. Is that what makes "the fans who matter(ones with deep pockets)" happy?

What exactly are they trying to do to the program? Kill it off? Become a FB only?
just kick us out. **** it.

In the Valley we had a front row seat to watch this situation unfold at SIU. Lowery got them to a Sweet 16, got a huge contract, then had players defect, his teams started to struggle and he essentially quit on the program while still running the ship. Not trying to win, not working hard on recruiting, etc. It brought their pretty successful program to the dregs of college basketball and they have just barely recovered to around 150ish.

If the buyout is only $2 million, I can't imagine it would not be in ECU's financial interest to try and find a way to get the money.

65 million dollar football expansion is all the ad is focused on now.
