Chad Bishop reports WKU is "mutually parting ways" with Russell

Its official now. Russell Athletic and WKU are parting ways. Russell is also losing the University of Ohio and Georgia Tech. Leaving Southern Miss and Coastal Carolina as the only representatives in FBS football.

USM's 5 year deal with Russell that started with the 2013 sports season for football and men's basketball is set to expire at the end of next year's sports seasons and I could see USM jumping ship as well. The initial release had it being a department wide switch but somehow baseball and women's basketball must have found a loophole as they have continued to wear UA and Nike respectively. The USM deal was 5 years at $2.75 million.

I liked Russell, better take care of the 100 Western shirts/sweatshirts, jackets I have (actually fairly close to that number) because....I'm cheap.

Not paying that $70-$90 for a shirt and $35.00 for a tee that Nike charges. I will pay the price for a cap. Something I wear often

2nd announcement expected likely tomorrow on the new partner. I have heard it is Nike.

I guess It could be Under Armour. I dont know and really don't care...

They will still carry other brands at your team store. We switched from Nike to UA a few years ago and our store still carries some Nike (among other brands) apparel.

Our deal with Russell was 5 years at $3.5 million.

I heard a news story a week or so again about brand loyalty among the Gen Z kids. They are no longer flocking to the mall brands (Hollister, A&F, etc.), but instead looking to active wear brands, most specifically Nike. Another nail in the coffins of malls everywhere. Another reason it does matter who your team wears.

So no indoor pluming just yet, ya'll heard about this new fangled thing they call lectricity they come out with a few years back.

We heard about it and implemented it...we just passed it off to our West Virginia neighbors. But they are having trouble deciphering these squiggly lines on paper the rest of us call letters and numbers to learn how to read the plans and make it.

Here is a fun fact for you. WKU was one of the 1st groups of schools to be sponsored by Nike in the 1980's.
