Once a Tiger......?
He hasn't given 1 dime to the program and he isn't starting now. Only thing he has given U of M is a vacated season.
If the season was vacated and he was declared ineligible, does that mean he didn't earn a varsity letter in '07-'08 thereby making him ineligible for M-Club membership? This could get complicated.

Derrick Rose has already made about as much in NBA salary as Penny Hardaway. ($117 million vs. $120 million). He signed a nearly $200 million contract with Adidas. He is only 28 or 29 years old. Rose has the benefit of playing where he wants to without having to try to get a top dollar deal. He could take a mid-level type deal for a year with a team where he doesn't have to shoulder the burden. If things are toxic in Chicago, he could go to Milwaukee with Coach Jason Kidd or Indiana with Coach Nate McMillan, both close to home. He could go to Minnesota where there are lots of young studs. He could go to Golden State where he could replace Shaun Livingston. Rose is at a point where he could be a role player extraordinaire. Such a role would be better for him with his fragile body.
He could come back to Memphis and play point and shooting guard taking Vince Carter's veteran leadership position. Depending what the Grizzlies do with Allen, Z-Bo, and the (assumed) retirement of Vince Carter, they'll need more firepower.
But Rose will probably hope to use his name to let him get one more big contract. But if he signed a 4 year, $60 million deal with someone, is that bad?

I don't deny posting anything that is a legit post.
There is something called a multiplier effect on spending; lot of info on google. I just picked this one at random. Was taught this at Memphis St in my Economics class. Maybe over your head.
http://geographyfieldwork.com/TouristMultiplier.htm
Maybe overstated amount but main point was about the poster wanted ALL the teams that would draw fans into the city to lose so HE COULD GET CHEAPER TICKET to see a guy who transferred away from Tiger team that desperately needed a senior leader and outside shooting. So, say I did overstate it to some degree (don't think I missed it as bad as you guiding are making out); it that as important as one person wanting the city to miss out on a lot of money?

DRose has said he is not ready for a sub role. Also, NPV of money makes Penny's total earnings a good bit higher than Rose's. Penny also made some very lucrative investments over the years; not sure about Rose.

Arguing just for the sake of arguing?
I wasn't making a commentary of Anfernee Hardaway's financial situation. I was just speaking on NBA salaries.

Not sure who is going to step up and pay him star money, my guess is no one. Also not sure who gives him 4 years, again probably no one. I could see 2 years, 40 million maybe. 20 mil / year isn't all that crazy in the NBA any more, hell Bismack Biyombo made 17 mil this year.
Will be interesting for sure. I think he's got a little gas left in the tank, he's just not someone who can lead a team to the playoffs any longer, but he could be a big part of a playoff team.
If I had to guess, I'd say Detroit might make a run at him and that seems like a decent fit. Reggie Jackson is their PG and he's a decent player, but nothing special.
I don't see the Bucks, they have Brogdon who they like and I think they want to stick with him. Minnesota has Rubio who was spectacular at the end of the year. Indiana has Teague and I'm not sure Rose is much of an upgrade at this point.
Agree with you that he would be better served taking on a more limited role and I also agree with you that that is likely not his mindset.
Interesting stuff here ... crazy how much NBA players make:
