New Mexico State hires Assistant
It looks like the Assosicate Head Coach at Indiana State, Lou Gudino will join the staff of Chris Jans at New Mexico State.

Source

He spent the last 10 years at Indiana State, the previous two years at Louisiana Tech, and two years as head coach at Frank Phillips College where he went 26-4 and ranked as high as 16th in the nation.

New Mexico State will have a good coaching staff next season.

Honestly what makes you say that? This guy doesn't seem overly impressive.

Frank over exaggerates everything. We have learned to live with it.

I think Frank is looking at this guy positively because he is an experienced coach with a pretty decent record. I know lot's in the WAC are licking their chops at whats happening at NMSU but the men's program has been a successful program for decades and is always in whatever conference we have been a top contender. NMSU will be fine and this hire is a good one. GCU still has lot's to prove. NMSU already has and will continue to be the team to beat in the WAC. #weirok

Well, Jans added more coaching experience. Only time will tell if Gudino was a good hire. At this point I am more concerned with where NMSU will get their future talent. Hopefully Jans and some of his staff can recruit well.

The last two years you lost in the WAC tournament final and lost the regular season. You know for a fact is we didn't have a 4OT game the night before you would've lost the WAC final again. Get off your high horse. Nobody is scared of NMSU anymore. You got your ass kicked on the blue court. Plus Barnes is still the best coach in the league. You should be more concerned at all your 2018 recruits jumping ship and transfers which more are probably coming.

+1 Good post that I believe pretty well sums up the feelings of many here; guarded optimism.

No offense but this is a garbage statement. CSUB has became more competitive however your two victories agaisnt came from a lucky 3 point shot and an away game where our coach was out coached. NMSU is still the WAC king pen and yet we still beat y'all (good teams know how to win) via NMSU thriller victory over CSUB in the WAC tourney. Also, That is evident by CSUBs commercial that always includes NMSU. Much like how GCUs commercials always include us. Y'all just can't get enough of NMSU. We are what you call a premier WAC program.

That's pretty damn hilarious. A "lucky" 3 point shot. I thought good teams knew how to win? Maybe you should've won if you were the better team? Maybe not have it tied at the last second? Nah that would be accepting defeat and you can't do that. There's a 100% chance CSUB would've won in the WAC final this year but we played a 4OT game the night before. You know this but can't admit it. Barnes is still going to outcoach your coach next year. Nobody is scared of old man irrelevant NMSU anymore. CSUB and GCU are actually relevant programs now. Maybe you saw us on national TV reaching the NIT semifinals the first 8 seed to do so. Can't wait until your ass is kicked on the blue court next year.

RE: New Mexico State hires Assistant
Also, for all of you hoping NMSU somehow falls to the bottom of the WAC I'd like to add we have been thrown in adversity before. When the original WAC left us behind for greener pastures Everyone though our basketball program would reach in all time low considering we would be in a conference with the likes of your programs. However, that was not the case we excelled and even brought up the level of competition in the WAC. IMO, NMSU is a MW team dressed as a WAC program and we deserve a lot more credit from our WAC peers, as we are not money rich and still fund a football program at the highest level and very solid Olympic sports. Sorry to imform y'all but We are not going Anywhere. NMSU is here to compete for WAC championships every year in every sport we offer. On another note I am extremely satisfied in the direction that other WAC schools are heading GCU, CSUB, UVU, and my second favorite WAC school Seattle U. We will surge past the MW in MBB I just have a feeling. #GoWAC

If you actually care about the WAC maybe you should stop talking **** to your fellow conference members. Some NMSU fans on here like yourself are always **** talking GCU and CSUB.

Yeah shoulda, would,, coulda but the reality of it is that CSUB couldn't. As you stated before if y'all where such a good team don't you think they wouldn't have allowed UVU to take them to OT? Even allow them to take you to 4 OTs? Not to mention y'all had a 1st round bye. I can't wait for NMSU to blow the roof of that high school gym y'all call the blue court.

I do care about the WAC. And I only come to defend my favorite school. Don't be a hypocrite if you can dish it out your going to have to take it aswell. Not sure how things run out there in the golden coast but the Wild West can be rowdy.

I didn't start this nonsense you did. As for your other post you actually LOST to UVU so that's pretty hilarious. You are going to lose to CSUB next year probably twice this time and lose the WAC tournament. Can't wait to rub it in your sorry face. What's up with a bunch of NMSU fans being arrogant and having some sense of entitlement?

Yes we did lose to UVU but a good program knows how to move on from defeat. Besides this isn't the first time UVU has beaten us. They've shown us what they could be in flashes. I think they won a WAC regular season championship a bit back. Also, regarding your statements about CSUB beating NMSU next season I doubt it but I will give credit where credit is due. In the mean time NMSU is still King and you and the rest of the NMSU doubters will just continue to hope we miss a step. I am 100% confident that we are the next WSU with Jans and I am extremely excited for the future of NMSU basketball. Jans and company will play smart and hard not like Menzies and Weirs Aggies. Good luck to the rest of the WAC teams. I am also very excited that the WAC is beginning to be competitive again. Not sure if y'all have noticed but we are a much improved league since we have started. It's too bad we couldn't keep Denver.

This is totally reasonable on the other hand. You are basically Frank just calm down lol. I don't like to start **** here but some people do and they're all NMSU fans go figure.

It's only the truth. NMSU was the better basketball team.

We went 2-1 vs Bakersfield last season. We won the series, just like we have won the series between Bakersfield every year since you joined the WAC.
