Fair enough.

Although most women I know nowadays would've cussed out the attendant and raised holy hell, especially if he came with an inch of hitting the child. This one sobbed forever like a broken-hearted schoolgirl.

Wow. Just wow. I dont know what you have against women, but its something.

The opposite. I was hoping she'd get in the attendant's face if he pulled that. So were you.

I deliberately left off the rest of your post because it doesn't pertain to what I said. I'm not saying she needed to be an expert. I'm not saying he acted appropriately. Etc.

She was in a foreign country. Why dont you try to get in the face of a flight attendant in Italy and see what happens.

assuming motown is a he, he'd have to become a she and take her chances as a katey-boo holding the condiments....

I stand corrected, my bad. Didn't know she was from a foreign country, I didn't come across that in the details and hadn't read every post in the thread.

The more is, last I checked, she tried to sneak a stroller on, he asked her not to do so and she refused... He tried to lift the stroller over her and accidentally hit here.

Quote:Again, there was NO JUSTIFICATION for how the flight attendant acted, either yanking the stroller out of the hands of the woman, or his actions towards another passenger.

So the answer was to let the woman sulk with her stroller in the middle of the isle? She was told to take the stroller to the end of the walkway and check it, we have to do the same thing when I travel.

She refused.

Now, I'm with you on the his behavior towards the other passenger. The guy was an ass but you can't react like that.

Quote:NONE. I dont care if the woman was "almost shouting". THERE WAS NO JUSTIFICATION. I dont care if the stroller was a double wide. THAT IS NO JUSTIFICATION. I dont care if it was gate checked and she rolled it onto the plane. THAT IS NO JUSTIFICATION.

Yes they should have called the police to remove her... That always works right?

Quote:And the airline and FA union knows there is no justification. No action by the woman, whether she was right or wrong, justified his actions.

So he was not justified trying to remove the stroller?

Quote:You would have to show me what this woman did to justify that. For all of the witnesses that saw it, the only thing they can come up with is that she was "almost shouting." Sorry, that isnt even close to justifying his actions.

I've heard she was shouting and not following the direction of the flight crew.

I've heard she was shouting and not following the direction of the flight crew.

My understanding was that another flight attendant told her that she could only keep the stroller if she could find a space for it to be stowed....but if a space could not be found....it would have to be checked.

While they were searching for a space the attendant was distracted by other passengers.

The second attendant spotted her with the stroller and told her that it had to be checked. She attempted to tell him that the other attendant was helping her find a space to stow it and held onto the stroller.

He jerked the stroller forcefully from her accidentally striking her and almost hitting the baby.

This got other passengers upset.

And for those of you interested.. here's the other part that wasn't recorded on that "famous" video...

From another customer on the flight:

I was on this flight directly across the isle from the woman filming the video. This is what I observed: 1.) woman gets on the plane pushing a car seat type stroller with one child in it, carrying a second child on her hip and dragging behind a very large folded stroller that was too big for the overhead bin or to go under a seat. 2.) the flight attendant shown in the video approached from the back of the plane and informed her in a calm manner that there was nowhere to store the stroller. The woman immediately escalated the situation and within about 30 seconds was screaming at him at the top of her lungs. 3.) the flight attendant evidently decided she was not fit to be on the flight (in my opinion the correct decision) and started to move her and her children towards the front of the plane. 4.) when they got to the from of the plane the woman decided she was not going any further. The flight attendant picked up the stroller and lifted it over his head to try and move past the woman. As he was doing this she pushed him and the stroller fell a bit and struck her in the face. She began crying loudly and dramatically. Shortly after this is where the video begins. 5.) The first class passenger then inserts himself into the drama with his faux chivalry but clearly has no idea what has transpired in the back of the plane since he was in a window seat in the first class section of the plane and could not have viewed the incident from his seat. 6.) after another 10 minutes or so the woman exits the plane only to be returned about 5 minutes later and taken to her seat. We wait another 30-40 minutes while various flight and ground crew come and go speaking to the woman. After about 40 minutes she deplanes again this time telling all of the passengers, who are now becoming vocal in support of the flight crew, that all she wanted was an apology from the flight attendant. Evidently that's what the 40 minute delay was all about. Then we waited another 10 minutes for the ground crew to find and remove her luggage from the belly of the plane. 7.) the flight finally leaves and arrives in Dallas an hour or so late. American representatives are waiting at the gate to speak with the first class passenger who made the threats. What I heard was a very apologetic tone coming from two American employees, as if the airline had done something to upset the first class passenger. 8.) when I entered the bag claim area the first class passenger was right in front of me and as soon as he made it through the revolving door there was a camera crew waiting for him on the other side to interview him. That's about as factual of an account as I can provide and I realize there may be other parts of this story that I do not know about or did not witness. From what I saw: a.) if anyone from American should have been punished it should be the ground crew who somehow letting this woman on board with a full size stroller. The flight attendant was put in a horrible situation by a passenger that most passengers in my immediate area thought seemed unstable. She escalated the situation, not him. b.) in my opinion, the first class passenger should have been removed. Had the flight been in progress he might very well have been arrested upon landing for threatening a crew member. Additionally, he could not have seen any of the back of the plane antics of the woman based on where he was seated. c.) I agree the flight attendant may have reacted too harshly in responding to the threatening customer in first class, but his actions with the woman in question were professional throughout the ordeal. I am disappointed American has chosen to punish him.

So now she was screaming at the top of her lungs? Or was she almost screaming? The two witnesses that even mention that are contradicting each other.

I would check your sources on this. Its written as if it is a member of the flight attendants union.

EDIT: Good grief, the guy who posted this isnt even the person on the flight. Now he is posting something that some phantom person who said he was on the flight supposedly said.

Part of the problem with a lot of these "viral" videos, they start midway through and you don't see the sequence leading up to it.

In a nutshell, sounds like an annoying passenger and a flight attendant who then let his temperament get the best of him.

His profession should be taken into consideration with his testimony of the events that transpired but if he was there and witnessed what happened is his opinion of what took place any less valid? Not in a court of law.

His profession should be taken into consideration with his testimony of the events that transpired but if he was there and witnessed what happened is his opinion of what took place any less valid? Not in a court of law.

He wasnt there. The guy posting wasnt there. The guy posting is an AA flight attendant, and he is basically writing on behalf of some phantom traveler none of us know about.

There are several indications this is a plant article.

1. Calling the actions of the guy who demanded the name of the flight attendant as "faux chivalry" is one. Whether or not the guy was right in his assumptions, his actions were chivalrous. If you are going to throw around the word "faux" to describe him, you are trying to deflate this guy in leui of the flight attendant. Funny, every other TRUE witness who was there had the SAME reaction as this guy, so why the phantom traveler, who none of us know about, seems to think differently is weirdly obvious that this is a slanted article.

2. This witness states the woman had two strollers. I havent heard that before, and I also believe it would be impossible for her to pull off. He states that shes pushing one child in a stroller, has another child on a hip, and is dragging another large foldup stroller. Dragging it with what, her third arm? And if this was the case, the airline is run by a bunch of dopes who clearly should have been assisting her instead of standing around with their thumbs of their butthurt asses.

3. This comment
5.) The first class passenger then inserts himself into the drama with his faux chivalry but clearly has no idea what has transpired in the back of the plane since he was in a window seat in the first class section of the plane and could not have viewed the incident from his seat.

Now wait a second, this phantom passenger said he was seated directly across the aisle from the woman videotaping, but the phantom passenger knows what happened in the back of the plane, but the "faux chivalry" guy doesnt. Bullsh*t.

4. Then this comment
From what I saw: a.) if anyone from American should have been punished it should be the ground crew who somehow letting this woman on board with a full size stroller.

Ground crew? Thats a technical term, one that a commercial flier would know as someone who services the plane. (ie fuels it ). What the hell would they have to do with this woman and the stroller? Well, the people who also check and handle your luggage in the airport are also known as "ground crew". But you'd never hear a layman call the person at the ticket counter checking your baggage "ground crew". We'd call them something like a ticket agent or baggage handler. Also, intersting enough, those particular people are not unionized at american airlines. (AA outsrouced that) So this part of the statement wreaks of being written by a union person (flight crew).

5. From this, we learn that the flight attendant lifted the stroller up over his head (dangerous) and hit the woman in the face with the stroller. (Which is why you dont do something stupid like lifting a heavy object over your head on an airplane.)

6. This person talks about how the flight attendant was calm. Funny, how in the video, the woman was calm while crying, and the flight attendant was belligerent.

I sure hope AA isnt going to go down the stupid route like United did. But it looks like their union members are all for it, which is why they need to be called out for it.

8.) when I entered the bag claim area the first class passenger was right in front of me and as soon as he made it through the revolving door there was a camera crew waiting for him on the other side to interview him. the major carriers are basically a monopoly at this point.....they'll settle the civil suit, some ambulance chaser will get theirs, and everything will continue to move forward until the next dipshite opens his/her mouth....

How soon before the airlines start restricting videotaping on their planes?

One good point in that account. Punish whoever on the ground crew let the woman get on the plane with the stroller in the first place. That's where this started going wrong.

that's a 14.00/hr worker that may have just been hired the week prior.....

a flight attendant has just a tad more responsibility in a confined space....

AA (or any other) should have their ducks in a row at all stations......period....

That is clearly where the first fault with the airlines lies. The description by the phantom rider is so ridiculous, although I'm not sure I believe it. But if we are to believe it, then she's supposedly pushing a child in a stroller, has a child on her hip, is somehow dragging another large foldup stroller, and has a backpack the size of a smart car on her back. And the numbnuts dont do anything until after she drags all of that crap onto the plane?

it's corpshite 'murica policy failure all day long at any level....

Oh, I've seen people try to bring that much or more on planes with them. I'm amazed what gets past the gate sometimes.

My understanding is that most of the flight crew were trying to accomodate her and find a way to let her carry it on....except one tin-pot mini-dictator.

The people trying to accomodate her are not the ones who need to be punished.

Actually, if she was trying to bring on anything like what is described in the one account, then the people trying to "accommodate" her are exactly who should be punished. Now, I don't know whether that depiction is true or false, and neither do you. But if it is true, then the ground crew screwed up majorly.
